Well, here I am and glad to be able to post again. To get back on track just write a sentence or two (or more), and post in the comments.

Vacissitude
[vi-SISS-i-tood]
Part of speech: noun
Origin: Latin, early 17th century

A change of circumstances over time, especially in one’s life
Mutability or change from one thing to another, or in a cycle

Examples of Vicissitude in a sentence...

1.No one can escape the vicissitudes of life and we all must adapt to the changes they bring.

2.Plants and animals are continually going through states of vicissitude.

About Vicissitude
A permutation is one of any possible variations in which something could be arranged. Permutations can be changed up, and vicissitude concerns the changeability of something. They’re not quite interchangeable, but they certainly are synonyms.

Did you Know?
"Vicissitude" is one of those words with many slightly different variations, but all of them basically mean the same thing: change. It can have a negative connotation, referring to the vicissitudes of life such as death, illness, and hardship. Or it can be used simply to describe changes in the state of something over time. Whenever you want to describe fluctuations in life or nature, use "vicissitude."

Illya Kuryakin was standing in the 'inner sanctum' that was the Conference room located in the New York headquarters of the U.N.C.L.E. He'd just been transferred from London, having had enough of his apprenticeship of Harry Beldon.

"Young man please be seated," Alexander Waverly gestured to one of the chairs at the round conference table.

Illya did so, not uttering a word.

"I know things will be quite different for you here; there will be vicissitudes for which you will need to become accustomed, It will be quite a change from the London office."

"Yes sir, I am already aware of that, and if I may speak frankly, the change will be a great relief," Kuryakin hesitated." Mister Beldon's methods and code of conduct made it difficult to work with him." Illya found this hard to say as his Soviet training was still ingrained within him; one never said anything that could be misconstrued as a complaint against a superior and not pay the price of being severely disciplined, or sent to the blast furnaces as one's final fate.

"I understand," Waverly nodded."You will face other challenges here young man as you will be operating while surrounded by some Americans who are prejudiced against Soviets. We'll deal with them if and when they make their presence known. Such behavior is not tolerated here, of that you can be assured."

"Thank you sir..." That remained to be seen," Illya thought, as cynicism ran deep within him.

No matter how hard an agent worked on them, rarely would their plans escape the vicissitudes of a mission. Waverly was always proud to know that, no matter what, his agents would always adapt and pull through. U.N.C.L.E. only employed the best after all.

Napoleon Solo contemplated the vicissitudes of his life. Growing up the grandson of two professional men, one an Admiral, one an Ambassador, the horror of Korea, losing a wife so young. All had played a part in making him who he was now. An agent of UNCLE. He knew that if he were given the chance he would not change a thing. He was who he was meant to be.
