Yesterday's poll was interesting, and the answers were sometimes unanimous, other times split by our perception.
I'm going to refer you to the comments that were made, many of them from st_crispins, who is knowledgeable concerning such things, and has given us some first hand information gleaned from her relationship with the creators of the show.
Regarding some of the less concrete answers, I'm going to take this route.
In the Ultimate Computer, Illya is once again undercover as a dirty prisoner in a South American jail while Napoleon has an attractive young woman to which he must tend. He does romance her, and the last scene of the episode has Illya fairly cursing his partner for it; primarily because he's having to do all of the dirty work, literally.
Drinking vodka: Illya does drink other things, like beer in the Galatea Affair, and martinis in another episode the name of which I don't recall.

Date: 2020-01-08 06:23 pm (UTC)Just FYI ---years ago for my research, I asked fan writers to take the Myer's Briggs personality test ---but *as* Solo and *as* Kuryakin. Quite a large group responded.
The results? IK emerged with one overall personality and one or two small variations. Solo had 13 different personalities. So, either we are more consistent in our view of IK than of Solo OR it's a result of the series giving us more info on IK than NS OR a combo of both.
I then asked DMc and RV to take the test. DMc declined. RV took it but told me he would get it 'wrong' because he would essentially take it as himself. And he was right! His results did not match the majority of fans' view of Solo. For example, in real life, RV was intellectual and introverted but he also had a sort of public persona that I'd watched him slip in and out of at conventions. However, although fans did not agree on much, they did all agree that Solo was an extrovert.
This is what prompted me to start writing Solo as wearing a 'mask' ---that he was acting a role and hiding his true self behind a persona that he could also change depending upon who he was manipulating.
In retrospect, having met and had multiple interactions with both DMc and RV, at first I thought they'd actually switched personalities in creating their characters ---that RV was really Illya-like and DMc was much more social [he used to interact with the crew a lot while RV was always reading a book on set]. But as I got to know them a bit, I revised my opinion. RV could easily slip into his Solo-mode while Dmc was the technical one and fascinated with machines, photography, digital. RV once commented that he didn't go online but DMc did. "I can barely start my car with a key," he joked to me.
