Jul. 13th, 2020 08:43 amHello and good morning, perhaps good afternoon.
I've been advertising challenges here on Section VII, but some of you may have noticed I'm not getting much done regarding the various opportunities. My life lately has been overtaken by family responsibilities, specifically in helping my cousin and his wife.
They're both in their mid-eighties, and my cousin's wife is a dialysis patient. I drive her three days a week to those sessions. In the past few weeks, my cousin has had some health problems, and last week had to be taken to the ER while I was in Bowling Green with his wife.
Long story (and a very long day), made a little less so, it turns out the doctors saw a spot, a small mass, on his pancreas. That meant more doctors, more appointments, and the future filled with the same. He'll need to be tested for covid-19 before a surgery can be confirmed, but one is scheduled for a biopsy later this month. Going into August there will be follow up appointments, and on and on...
Of course, the hope remains that this is not cancerous. I try to never stand on the side of pragmatism, and even when things look dire, I have sufficient history with grace and healing to petition God for more.
And so, at present, my contributions to the challenges here are negligible. I hope to get some writing done, but felt that an explanation was warranted. We've been here as Section VII for over eight years, and I'm always grateful for every writer, every reader and 'lurker' who helps to make this a viable community. In looking at our statistics, I was amazed (make that shocked), to see we're in the top twenty of all Live Journal communities. I don't know if everyone else is just on hiatus, or if we've suddenly caught the attention of people who were unaware we exist.
Whatever, to those who simply drop by, thanks and I hope you continue to do so. For all of you, a heartfelt Thank You for sticking with us, for being the reason we're here. We're in it for the love of Napoleon and Illya, no doubt about it.
Again, I hope you'll continue to read the stories, write the new adventures and carry on the vision of UNCLE. Some things never really grow old.
