“Is that a … ponytail, Mr. Kuryakin?”

The tone of voice was incredulous, the expression disgust and wonderment.

“Uh, yes sir.  I’ve not had opportunity to go to the barber since my return.  The role did require … a more contemporary disguise.”

The wonderment evaporated along with the Russian’s pass on good grooming.  His hair had never appeased Waverly’s idea of a proper haircut.  Ponytails…

 “Very well then, I expect you back here later today with a report and a haircut, Mr. Kuryakin. And do tell Mr. Solo his expense report is as shaggy as your hair.  That is all.”

Perhaps you should have illustrated your writing - I would imagine he would look very naval, of the eighteenth century of course, but as for myself, I still prefer the season one look, which mr Waverly does too of course.

Hmmm... since I'm in bed today nursing a cold, perhaps I'll get out a sketchbook and see what comes across the page. 60's Illya with a pony tail... it might be a little less than 18th century glam, but still, I would have enjoyed seeing it.

Oh dear, poor old you. You're right of course, it would be scruffy pony tail knowing him, which is another good reason for not allowing it. (!)
