Sonnet 86: Was it the proud full sail of his great verse~William Shakespeare

Was it his spirit, by spirits taught to write

Sometimes I wonder about my partner. He’s so intelligent, cunning...a perfect spy; if it weren’t for the fact that we’re best friends.

Spies aren’t supposed to have attachments, but ours, I think, makes us stronger.

Illya hides his past, his feelings...his soul; if he’d admit to having one.

Which nightly gulls him with intelligence,

He lets free snippets of his vast information. What is truth or falsehoods? Is it from years in the spy business? Old habits...

I trust him with my life, and he trusts me and that’s all that counts in the long run.

His personal life doesn’t matter; yet still... I’m curious.

am i the only one who thinks that Illya doesn't hide anything and not curios about his personal life?

This is just my take on him but there's lLots of different views of him. His original character bio from the show was that he way mysterious and little was known about his background. And even McCallum liked to play him that way, keeping a more enigmatic character.

It let the audience;s imaginations fly...

In the episode The Foxes and the Hounds affair, Illya gets quite perturbed when the magician with the thought probing machine talks of glimpses of his childhood in Kiev. There was also the mystery of why Illya wore a wedding band but it was never revealed he was married or not. All these little things are what writers have run with.

Oh, don't take me wrong, i like (especially as a reader, not writer) people see Illya as they see him. Like the difference. Just to me his is not misterious, that was my point:)

(Also, for me he wasn't perturbed in that episode, but angry. One of very introverted reactions, and he's a tipical of most tipical introvert, wouldn't you agree?:) )

Yes agree totally, he's an introvert, and shy but he's also very clever and calculating. He is after all a trained operative, and his introversion etc. goes away when he has to jump into action, like he's on automatic.
