The 'Mad Scientist' Affair

They paused at the bottom of the hill and looked up at the house where Mark and April were supposedly being held by a THRUSH scientist.

Giving his partner a side glance, Illya commented in a dry tone.

"I am not sure if it is reassuring or somewhat disturbing for a mad scientist to match his surroundings so well to his bent in life."

"Does sort of look like a set off of a Vincent Price movie, doesn't it?"

"Shall we make a wager as to whether or not April and Mark are being held in the basement?"

"Not taking that bet, chum.  Heck, I'd even be willing to say the basement will have a dungeon vibe going."

"Let us get them out in all due haste then.  April has a tendency to laugh during movie clichés and our current villain might take offense."

"You have a point, tovarich.  Mad scientist types aren't know for their sense of humor."

"Considering the appearance of the house, I would also suggest that we be wary of traps."

"Hmm - you're right.  Why would he stop at one cliché when he could cover them all?"

A crack of thunder boomed overhead and Napoleon sighed.

"Great.  Even Mother Nature is getting in on this."

"While the storm will make good cover for our movements, I would prefer not to get soaked."

"Agreed.  Let's get inside before the rain starts.  Besides, hard to sneak around in a house if you're leaving a trail of dripping water.  Everything ready?"

"Do we have time to round up a stake and a few silver bullets?"

"Very funny."

"I was not joking."
"You know - I do have a couple of bulbs of garlic in the trunk."

"Seriously?"

"Yeah.  I picked them up on the way to work this morning.  I was supposed to make spaghetti sauce."

"Hand them over.  One never knows."

"Why not?  We'll each take a bulb."

. . . . .

"Come on, kids - let's get you to Medical so we can figure out what that nut might have injected in you."

"Thanks for the save, mates."

"Really.  How on Earth did the pair of you figure out that he was allergic to garlic?"

"It was either that or hope he was allergic to silver."

"Huh?"

"We'll explain it all later."

I loved it when Illya said, straight faced of course ... "I was not joking'. Well done for the prompt.
