Sometime last year I considered opening a new community. For whatever reason, it never developed and I just let it sort of percolate in the back of my mind.
But this is a new year, and new things seem to be cropping up in different directions. I for one don't want to fail to follow the muse, or the path or whatever we need to call our wandering proclivities.
What this is, I hope, is a nice place to carry on a conversation about MFU, the episodes and the men who make it memorable.
Admittedly, and as most who have been kind enough to read any of my stories know, the thing I love is mission related, gen fiction. I love the series the way it looked to me when I was a kid. You know, the way it made me fall for the Russian, or that made you giddy over Napoleon.
I'm not inviting my flist in a rush to fill the place, but if you're interested in the kind of propaganda that promotes World Peace through Handsome Intervention, then I hope you'll stop in and visit here. I can't think of a better form of PR.

Date: 2012-01-13 10:54 pm (UTC)Thank goodness, MG realized that it's too cold for me to endure about a four-hour trip (one way) for what might have been a one-hour memorial service. (Actually, I think the deciding factor was that he didn't want to drive the four hours.)
A community for the promotion of propaganda for world peace through handsome intervention sounds like my kind of place. I do miss the MFU that I knew.
About the icon, I asked Illya to bring the canon. This was the best he could do on short notice. :)

Date: 2012-01-14 12:16 am (UTC)Like Glenna, I feel like a 10-year-old kid here for some reason, which is a good thing in my case as the long-term memory is better than the short-term memory!
By the way, many thanks again for the PMs the other day. ((Hugs!))

Date: 2012-01-13 11:03 pm (UTC)I believe in the world peace through handsome intervention. I'm sure that's in the mission statement of the U.N.C.L.E. somewhere.

Saving the world through Handsome Intervention is what the best part of life is about. :-)
Oh, and promoting peace, too. :-D

Date: 2012-01-14 08:53 pm (UTC)I must say, I like the 'no adult content' clause of the offer of employment. If I want that, I can go many other places on lj (like my own journal, lol). But this place... as you say, it's nice to have someplace where cousins of all ages can safely play.

Date: 2012-01-14 09:51 pm (UTC)Actually, my true name for the site is "La Vie Neuf"--The Ninth Life. When togsos created my banner, she used the name I had at the time, which was "Section Eight." Later on I thought of "La Vie Neuf," which I prefer. I'd change my banner to reflect the new name if I could, but I don't know how.
I figure Illya and Napoleon probably used up eight of their lives as active agents, but the ninth life is reserved for their personal fulfillment. I like that thought.
PS: Nearly halfway done with "10 Plagues." YAY!

Date: 2012-01-14 10:40 pm (UTC)As for La Vie Neuf... I like that a lot. You're probably right about the guys needing 9 lives to escape all of that madness they encountered. And big Yay for 10 Plagues. Finishing them, not having them ;)

Date: 2012-01-14 07:26 pm (UTC)We'll know it's you from now on, and definitely will answer any questions you may have. If you click on any of the user names it will take you to individual journals. You can friend people there, and of course that will broaden your world here on LJ. You might as well start by friending everyone in this community, since we all have the same job description: FAN.
Welcome to Section 7.
