“Are you quite certain, Mr. Kuryakin?”  The Russian agent nodded his head.  This was a difficult decision, but he knew there was no other way.
“Yes sir, I have no doubts.  I am sorry, Mr. Waverly.  You have been very kind to me and …”
The old man raised his hand, an indication that no more was necessary.
“We have both done what we considered necessary, young man.  Neither of us is to blame, perhaps neither can be commended.”
Illya understood and acknowledged the old man’s wisdom with a slight nod, a small smile the only indication that he agreed.
