Wow, that was intense. I could see Napoleon desperately fracturing Christmas carols in an effort to stay sane. Very powerful.

Most definitely. This was a difficult spot for Napoleon, no question. Having to negotiate a deal in a very delicate political environment while worrying about his friend and being himself in less than optimal physical conditiona.
