This story was originally written for a HOWDOWE challenge 2 years ago (wow) and fell around the time of the celebration of Victory Day, May 9th in the then Soviet Union with the prompt being:

"They say we are the sum total of our experiences. Some take those experiences and live with them, others live in spite of them."~ What we perceive isn't always the truth.

At UNCLE HQ Illya revisits his past as he views the parades in Red Square and the displya of Soviet military might. (Archival footage of these spectacles on You-tube were a tremendous help in writing this)

Illya lets prejudicial comments roll of his back like a duck. I'm with Napoleon. I'd be pissed off big time! I'd like to see a parade in red square. Bet it would be impressive.

I guess because Illya is so accustomed to it that he finds it better to ignore it...most of the time. I've had him get into a few fights over it and get in trouble with Mr. Waverly because of it. Yeah those parades are pretty amazing...back in the cold war days, they were scary with all the military hardware on display...eek
