A double drabble today...posting the whole poem just because...

.

Prompted by: The Ghosts ~Robert Service

Said Lenin's ghost to Stalin's ghost:

      "Mate with me in the Tomb;

Then day by day the rancid host

       May gaze upon our doom.

A crystal casket we will share;

       Come, crusty Comrade come,

And we will bear the public stare,

       Ad nauseum."

Said Stalin's spook to Lenin's spook:

       "Long have you held your place.

The masses must be bored to look

       Upon your chemic face.

A change might be a good idear,

       And though I pity you,

There is within the Tomb, I fear,

       No room for two."

Said Lenin's wraith to Stalin's wraith:

       "You're welcome to my job;

Let millions of our mighty faith

       Gaze on your noble nob.

So when to goodly earth I've gone,

       (And I'll be glad to go),

Your carrion can carry on

       Our waxwork show."

“Did you know the body of Lenin is preserved in a glass coffin and is being called incorrupt? Christian Saints are not the only ones privy to such a thing. Stalin’s body was too.” Illya held up a newspaper article on Lenin.

“Incorrupt? That hints at a bit of Divine intervention doesn’t it chum?”

“They did do an extensive embalming process on both Stalin and Lenin, and of course within the glass coffins a vacuum is maintained so bacteria cannot do any damage. You are right, they are not incorrupt...just mummified.”

“Or rather they were, wasn’t Stalin’s body removed recently and entombed in Red Square?” Napoleon asked.

“Yes, last year,” Illya nodded.” There has been a period of de-Stalinization; his body was removed in secret and buried in a tomb alongside the Kremlin wall. Krushchev ordered concrete poured over the tomb so that Stalin could never rise again. That acknowledged some of the evil the man was responsible for, I think.”

“Sounding a bit un-Communistic tovarisch?”

“I believe in the ideals of my country, but not in the murderous ways of Stalin. I lived under his cruel yoke. He had millions of his own people murdered, need I say more?”

Got my money's worth this morning; a double drabble and a history lesson. Nice story bit, M.

Stalin was so very evil, it's good that we remind ourselves periodically. He was also into the occult, like Hitler; something else we should remember about those two.
Nicely done.

Tens of millions, the Soviet people suffered greatly under Stalin. Makes me shiver to think Illya made it out alive, but oh, what he went through. A good history lesson in so few words, well done.
