A triple drabble today:

.

Prompted by: A Better Resurrection~Sylvia Plath

I have no wit, I have no words, no tears;
My heart within me like a stone
Is numbed too much for hopes or fears;
Look right, look left, I dwell alone;
lift mine eyes, but dimmed with grief
No everlasting hills I see;

My life is like the falling leaf;
O Jesus, quicken me.

Napoleon Solo lay at the bottom of shallow embankment. His car had been run off the road, shots fired and one grazed him, producing enough blood that his pursuers thought him dead.

He might as well be...no one knew where he was. His gun and communicator gone, and no homing devices in his clothing, under his skin or anywhere else for that matter.

Illya had a nose like a bloodhound when it came to tracking him down, but even this time he doubted the wiley Russian could find him.

Solo was in the middle of nowhere...Kansas he thought, but wasn’t sure. He was supposed to be in Missouri.

Just when all hope seemed lost, a voice called out of the darkness.

"Anybody hurt down there?”

"I’m trapped beneath my car!” Napoleon shouted back.

He heard someone scrambling down the embankment, shining a flashlight in his eyes.

"Hang in there Mister, I need to get a chain and I can use my tow truck to raise it off you. You think anything is broken?”

"No, just stuck.”

"All righty then.”

Twenty minutes later, Napoleon was free. A towel was used, putting pressure on his wound.

“We’ll get you looked over in town... what’s your name young fella?”

"Solo, Napoleon Solo. Thanks for rescuing me…” He held out his hand in gratitude to the older man. “And your name?”

“It’s Illya, Illya Nickovich Kirianov.”

"Seriously, Illya?

"Yep, but folks just call me Nick after my dad Nicholaí. Parents were from the old country. I guess your folks were from France...and why they named you Napoleon.  Must’ve been a humdinger to deal with that in school... at least here most people are of Slavic descent, so my name was no big deal, I reckon."

"Napoleon smiled....”What were the odds?”

Leave it to "Illya" to always be there for Napoleon!

It could happen; it's amazing how names are duplicated. Very comforting to know an Illya is always close by ;)
