WRITER'S CHOICE~ 'Seoul Survivors' and 'Brothers Old and New' by mrua7 (mlaw on ff.net)

I started a Solo series way back when, exploring  a bit of Napoleon's backstory during his military days and eventual association with U.N.C.L.E. and have just realized I need to revisit this series again as it has so much potential.

The first story Seoul Survivors introduces his army buddies, 'Billy' and 'Scotty Bob'....the latter was based upon stories told by an Irishman/friend who for a time worked the mines near Alice Springs in Australia and met a mad Scotsman named 'Scotty Bob.'

The second story brings loss into Napoleon's life but eventually guides him on his journey towards U.N.C.L.E. and being partnered with Illya. Napoleon breaks a personal vow after working with the Russian...

I love Napoleon being berated for his cockiness in Seoul Survivors. It's one of his main weapons later on.

With Brothers Old and New, when you said napoleon breaks a personal vow, I assumed it was never to trust a communist. Turns out I was wrong.

Surprise...yep, his vow was not to get close to someone again after losing Scotty Bob..."D Really glad you enjoyed the stories. I need to get a few more of these going as I've been ignoring poor Nappy's backstory a bit. In my AU series we do get to meet his family and future bride....and see Billy again. The only other references I have to Scotty Bob are when Napoleon (with Illya in tow visits Arlington National Cemetery for Memorial Day to place flowers on Bob MacKenna's grave.
