Just A Silly Poll Among Friends
Jul. 17th, 2012 12:50 pmI know we don't have hoards of cousins coming through here, but still, it's interesting to know what the few and faithful have to say. Whether you love Napoleon in a tux (it's devastating in Black and White), or a season full of bright blue eyes, we all have a particular preference it seems. Just for fun, let's see which season comes out in front.[Poll #1854465]

Date: 2012-07-18 03:37 am (UTC)But essay? Sure why not.
1st season: Lots of solid stories, and the sterotypes aren't too pronounced. THRUSH is quite competent, and UNCLE is quite rich.
2nd season: Way campier and more far fetched than anyone gives it credit for, though stories are still well-written, internally consistent and can be meaningful despite the madness. Stereotyping at its worst, both racially and sexually. Illya stops chasing girls.
3rd season: Hilarious and unashamedly bizarre. Only disappointing if you are looking for deep meaning. Begins to get the idea of feminism partway through, though still uncertain. Starts to balance out the stereotypes with white, male and American groups (aside from the British). UNCLE begins to show signs of a tight budget and THRUSH begins to get incompetent. Napoleon gets used to shotgun weddings.
4th season: UNCLE has used up its money, THRUSH has used up its most intelligent youth and is blowing their deepest cover operatives left and right. Feminism established solidly with Lisa Rogers. Napoleon stops dating unless Illya is involved though he halfheartedly tries for a girl in The Maze Affair. More serious and more troubling stories and story elements than even in the first season... which probably did more to kill the show than third season, because it was no longer FUN. But it is meaningful and touching and very good storytelling.
