This story is one from the Song Story Challenge, and was based on The Sounds of Silence.  Napoleon has to meet the challenge of a potentially disabling trauma when he can least afford to give in to fear.  I hope you will enjoy this one again, or perhaps for the first time.

This story is one that makes you think for sure. Of the three major senses...sight, hearing and speech; I think losing one's hearing would be the worst. To suddenly be cut off from the sound of the human voice, music, nature would truly make you feel alone. It's as if the world would cease to exist in a way. If you lose your sight, you can still hear the world around you, you can still interact and speak, If you lose your speech,...seeing and hearing allows you to be connected. But no hearing...wow, it's like being stuck in a vacuum.

this story really brings some intense feelings to the surface. Wow.

One of my worst fears is to be deprived of my vision or .hearing. I can just imagine what Napoleon must have been thinking and fearing. The initial panic plus the fear of losing his partner would be horrific.

This is a well written exploration of what our hero would be experiencing!
