Monday, Monday, so good to me;
Monday morning, it was all I hoped it would be.
Oh, Monday morning, Monday morning couldn't guarantee
That Monday evening you would still be here with me.

:~~~~~:~~~~~:~~~~~:~~~~~:~~~~~:~~~~~:

Monday was supposed to bring rain, instead it shut down the city with a massive snowfall that the weathermen hadn't quite seen coming.

"Would you say this is a freak snow storm?"  Napoleon was topping off his second cup of coffee as he chatted amiably with the young woman behind the counter.  She was an attractive sort, with short dark hair and eyes set off by a sprinkling of freckles across her nose.  Napoleon took note that she wore no make-up, and the freshness of her appearance made him appreciate that.  She was genuine, not a quality he encountered often in his line of work.

"I love snow, and for it come on a Monday makes it even better."  She passed him his freshened mug of steaming coffee, smiling as she made the remark.

"Why is is better on Monday, Becky?  I mean, snow is snow... or am I missing something?"  The Northwest CEA was amused by this girl, by her perky smile and way her eyes lit up as she conversed with people.

"Mondays are sort of a drag, aren't they?  I mean, we have to start our work week and we're looking ahead at four more days of the same thing.  Don't get me wrong, I enjoy my job and it's paying for college eventually, when I've saved up enough.  But still, Mondays... they're kind of blah."

Napoleon was willing to go along with this, and he was surprised for some reason to discover that the job here at Headquarters was simply a means to an end for Becky; he was pleased at that revelation.

"Okay... but I still don't get why the snow makes it better."  She smiled at him and took a breath, almost like she was visualizing her response.

"In the morning we have this anticipation for whatever we're encountering, how it might affect us and whether or not it will remain with us throughout the day, the week... There's uncertainty.  But when it snows today, I'm going to be thinking about it and wondering if it will still be there tonight for me to enjoy as the lights come on and the stars peek out from behind clouds.  It's just better knowing that the week has started off with this beautiful sprinkling of snow that, hopefully, will still be with me this evening as I go home."

Napoleon nodded appreciatively, not entirely sure he 'got' it, but impressed nonetheless to hear someone wax poetic about a weather element.  It reminded him a little of his partner to hear Becky go on about it.

"Well, what about tomorrow?  Wouldn't snow be just as welcome on a Tuesday, or Wednesday... any day of the week?"  Now Becky had to giggle at Mr. Solo's reaction.  She understood that her outlook on life was a little different from other people's, but that was okay with her.

"You know what Mr. Solo?  I love snow whenever we have it, but on Monday it just makes me happier.  I don't know why, exactly.  I guess it's just one of my little quirks.' She looked towards the door and spotted someone who might also make her Monday a delight.

"Oh, there's Mr. Kuryakin."  Sure enough the blond was walking through the doorway into the cafeteria, heading towards his friend.

"Napoleon... Becky.' He nodded, a small smile creasing his face.

Oh, I hate to trouble you but..."  Becky knew what he was going to say and she was ready.

"Tea, with some raspberry jam?  Give me a few minutes and I'll bring it over to you. I think Chef Barney ordered some more, and probably put your name on it."  Her wink was charming, and Napoleon thought he saw a little color rise on the Russian's pale complexion.

Monday might turn out to be interesting for more than the snow ouside.

Waxing poetic are you! This worked very nicely, and given it's pouring rain her makes me wish it would turn to snow. It's so pretty and peaceful when it falls.

This was a really enjoyable use of the prompt!

I only like snow when it's freshly laid and I can watch it from inside a nice warm house. Beyond that, I hate it. it's cold, wet and slippery. Also, I live in a semi-rural area, and the council keeps all the grit for the more populated areas and bus routes.

It's nice to see someone's delighted at the prospect of snow instead of grumbling about it like I tend to do. No snow here in northern Ohio yet, but we did have some sleet. Your story has me smiling.
