September 1913, William Butler Yeats: You have dried the marrow from the bone

“Tovarisch, how long had you been without food before I found you?”

“Four days, why do you ask?”

“You’ve been sucking on and gnawing that bone for awhile.  Just take the other pork chop!”

“That’s your dinner, Napoleon.”

“And, you’re my friend recovering from food deprivation.  Take it.”

“Thank you.”

Sonnet: At Ostend, July 22nd 1787, William Lisle Bowles: And hark! with lessening cadence now they fall

The two men huddled in the dumpster listening to their pursuers search nearby.  Just before they were discovered, a voice yelled, “The boss says we gotta go now!  Let’s go!”

Sighing with relief as footsteps faded away, they climbed out and ran the opposite way.

“Thank God for impatient bosses!”

Upon his Saddle sprung a Bird, Emily Dickenson: And then he lifted up his throat

Napoleon was in a great mood; they were back safely from a successful mission and he had a date with the new brunette in Translations.  He felt so good; in fact, he began to sing, much to Illya’s dismay.

“Your singing is torturing me!”

“I’m happy, Partner!”

“I am not!”
