For those of you who might have missed this one; it was originally posted for pactnmmt for the 2014 Halloween Challenge. The story takes place in snowy Russia, so I thought it would be appropriate given the wintry storm that's headed our way tomorrow night. Another 8-12" predicted snowfall.

Summary: Napoleon and Illya face an unexpected danger while crossing a frozen wilderness in the Soviet Union, there Kuryakin must reveal something from his childhood that his father had sworn him to keep secret.    "A Howling In the Night"

You're welcome. (giggle) Thanks for commenting on it, I would have thought you'd read this one already? It's freezing here. Was down to 0 today and probably going below that tonight.

I loved this the first time I read it, and still love it the second time around. The story could almost have me believing in werewolves.

Yay! Yeah it did get pretty creepy and the fact that I used Russian wolf lore made it more exotic I think than the standard werewolf stories.

I've been fascinated by wolves since I was little, though you wouldn't know it. I don't have wolf posters or statues etc. however I do have a fairly large stuffed toy of a wolf licking his chops that I've had since I was little...so that would date him back to being 54 years old. Holy smokes. Sort of a scary looking toy for a little girl back then.

I used to walk along swinging him by his tail, poor boy. His name is ironically, 'Snowflake'...

Wolves have always been my favourite animals. I think I can associate with the lone wolf. Preferring to follow my line, yet knowing when to run with the pack :-)

One of the words for Monday's short affair is 'Wolf', yet I've gone with the other one, LOL.

I hear you about the lone wolf thing, though I've usually associated it for myself with "marching to the beat of a different drum." Now though I think having been that way most of my life, I'm regretting it. Being alone isn't all what it's cracked up to be after a while.

I don't know how I missed your story yesterday! I loved it the first time around. It was a perfect Halloween gift! It is still just as chilling as it was the first time. I loved how you included Russian lore in it.

Thank again! It's become one of my favorite stories. Even though it was posted for a Halloween challenge I think it's a story that chills anytime. The lore really is what helped make it, and the little backstory with Illya and his father.
