The view from the secretarial pool was generally one of suit-clad agents with proper barber haircuts and a generous helping of testosterone laden, if not polite, demeanors. Most of the men at the U.N.C.L.E. of New York were textbook in their appearance, and even when they showed up in their undercover garb, they were somehow so very UNCLE-ish, at least to the ladies who typed up their reports, booked their airline flights and delivered the occasional cup of coffee.

Summary: It’s National Secretaries Day and Napoleon is in a bit of a jam with the ladies of the secretarial pool at  U.N.C.L.E. headquarters.

Written for the HODOWE: Tax Day/Admin Pro Day ( known as Secretaries Day in the 60’s)  Challenge on the UNCLE HQ forum and Section VII LiveJournal.

Napoleon Solo faced an angst-ridden dilemma when “Secretaries Day” was rolling around again, as it was a similar problem he had to deal with on Valentine’s Day day as well.  He dreaded both pseudo-holidays equally. If he was away on assignment the matter was solved but if he wasn’t out of town, it was a big problem, and unfortunately one of his own doing.

Though the Poisson d'Avril challenge (Poisson d'Avril Challenge Guidelines) is still going on (you have through Saturday, the 7th, to post your stories for that), I wanted to post the guidelines for the next HODOWE challenge to give folks as much time as possible for writing as this is another rather short timeframe.

CHALLENGE: Write an MFU fanfic story regarding the ideas embodied in either Tax Day and/or Administrative Professionals' Day. This is our first "combo challenge", so you are free to use either of the holidays mentioned or combine them both in a single story. The story doesn't have to necessarily mention or include the day(s) by name; just embody a scenario that fits the concept(s) behind it(them). This one is pretty cut-and-dry as to those ideas: (1) anything to do with finances or accounting, and (2) anything to do with the guys being aided by support personnel of one kind of another. Just remember that, if you do choose to use the holiday name for Administrative Professionals' Day within your fiction work, back in the 1960s it was officially known as Secretaries' Day.

STATISTICAL STUFF: Minimum of 500 words with no set maximum. Must fit into the overall concepts of this community, i.e., contain no explicit adult material and reflect the 1960s series in style and content.

POSTING: To this forum (and on fanfiction dot net), starting on April 15th and ending on April 21st.
