I noticed the other day that people were talking about the new box set and a very spiffy price on Amazon.com  Seems the movie has done one of two things:
1) Spurred sales of all things UNCLE, or...
2) Left retailers with excess merchandise.

The sale is over, but the MFU page is pretty full... see it HERE
So, what do you think?  Are we going to experience a deluge of new fans, both for the show and the movie?  Movie only?  TV purists?
Did anyone buy the set at that Fab price of just under $60?
Talk to me people!

I've already seen a lot of fic based upon the movie cropping up. Just like Star Trek, I think we'll have the origiinal MFU fic, and the New MFU fan fic. At the same time I think the movie has generated interest in the original show...for people who want more.

Over on Fanfiction.net my stats (when they were working, but they've been down for a week...grrrr) they were through the roof! I've had lots of new people commenting and adding my stories to the favorites, I mean a lot. These are people who aren't new to the site either, so they're discovering the MFU for whatever reason.

Going to the movie today. Purchased my 4 seasons of MFU from Amazon. I can watch wherever I want. Pretty ok. Just can't download the return movie, which I kinda liked.

Already had the set that I got on a good sale years ago when it first came out.

I think you and I may be the only two people who don't hate the return movie. :D

I cross-post most of my LJ stuff onto my Tumblr and I've gotten a big surge of new followers since the movie came out. I think the movie will pique curiosity about the series, but I'm not sure about it gaining and sustaining new fans. I was reading a review of the movie and in the comments section, several people said that they loved the movie but thought the series "sucked."

My stats have been down for a week too! when I have time, I'm going to transfer my stories over to Ao3

I got the series set in the nifty "aluminum" case on sale a long while back. I think Warner Bros had it on sale.

Did just pre-order the new movie since the local theaters stopped showing it already.

I've been moving mine to AO3 a little at a time but am not completely comfortable there after the incident of some writer's stories being taken without permission and put up for sale on another site. The pirating has been stopped but that doesn't say much for AO3's security. FF.net doesn't allow anyone's posts to be cut and pasted, so that says a lot to me, regardless of the statistics issue.

My stories there were doing phenomenally, best ever since I'm on the site, but with the stats being down, it has become a bit annoying. Have to say, this is the first problem with the site in a very long time. They haven't posted any messages as to what's going on, so we're all left hanging.

Though ff.net hasn't responded to amy messages to support or on their blog, the consensus of opinion seems to be that they're letting the stats issue slide for this month as it should reset with the new month. Hey as long as it's fixed.

Unfortunately, most 60s shows suffer in comparison to today's effects. Having grown up with them, though, I have a certain fondness for the "naive charm" they had.

I forgot to mention that I had gotten the briefcase boxed-set several years ago. Despite the price, I'm glad I have the older one, because I adore that little briefcase.

Hope they fix the stats soon, I do like looking at them. Does anyone else find themselves looking at the table with the visitor countries and wondering? I seem to have an awful lot of readers from Turkey and I'm not sure why.

Also they've only just released series 1 on DVD here. I keep wondering whether I should wait to see if they release a special edition of all four series later. Because if I buy them separately, that would just annoy me.

The number of readers I have runs the gamut, all across Europe, Asia, Australia, New Zealand, Japan, Taiwan, China,Philippines and the middle East. Only 2 South American Countries...Peru and Colombia, and even the isle of Jersey!

Most of my stats are from the U.S. Canada, the U.K. Germany, Australia and N.Z.

What I love is that I've chatted with so many people from these countries and have become on-line friends with quite a few.

Not having the stats is a bummer, and hopefully they're reset as of the first of the month. Fingers crossed.

Strange they didn't have a special deal for the newly packaged MFU set for the U.K.... Yeah, I don't blame you for thinking about waiting as I'd be annoyed too. Glad I got mine back in 2009.

I have no interest in seeing it. I'm glad you enjoyed it, though.
