What’s wrong with it?

“That colour really doesn’t suit you, chum,” his partner grumbled, “I don’t think you do my image any good. I’ll have to walk a pace behind you.”

“As is right and proper, my friend. Anyway, what’s wrong with it?”

“You’re blond, you’ve got blue eyes. You should wear grey or black – but not that.”

“I have a burgundy one, will that do?”

I completely loved the movie. I can live with the funky back stories. I love the Gabby character, Hugh grant was fun as Mr waverly. I actually enjoyed this Illya. He actually was very much the character I loved. Napoleon as art thief was quite good. Reminded me of the back story to the Robert Wagner show--It takes a Thief.

Which reminds me-- there was a lot of nods to old shows and THE old show, itself: the split screens of Mission Impossible, and the banter between the two characters-- especially at the fashion house, was great.

Napoleon was much more the napoleon of the first season, possibly more of the character that Fleming intended.

Please note that I also love the new Star Trek movies as well.

I noticed the other day that people were talking about the new box set and a very spiffy price on Amazon.com  Seems the movie has done one of two things:
1) Spurred sales of all things UNCLE, or...
2) Left retailers with excess merchandise.

The sale is over, but the MFU page is pretty full... see it HERE
So, what do you think?  Are we going to experience a deluge of new fans, both for the show and the movie?  Movie only?  TV purists?
Did anyone buy the set at that Fab price of just under $60?
Talk to me people!

So I was able to get one of the MFU posters at our local movie theatre today.  They're not supposed to give them out before the movie premiers but after the fire drill fiasco last night when I went to see a preview showing of Jurassic World, the fire alarms went off  causing a mass evacuation of the theatre.  The movie was delayed by about an hour.

Long story short, got to see the movie...eventually, and got a couple of free movie passes in the process.  I found out the name of the fellow who handles the posters as they had one up for the MFU movie in the lobby... Got his direct phone number.  (I was shocked at my luck)

So it seems he received only 2 posters, the one that was on display and the one he decided to give to me...guess he felt sorry for me? Dunno, but does it matter/  So now I need to go find a poster frame for this puppy.  Will hang on my wall beside my 'classic' MFU poster. (the one I use as my icon)

He's not sure if they'll be getting more in for the premier as he said he should already have them by now.

I usually don't have this sort of good fortune. Hmmmm maybe I should go buy a lottery ticket?

This is the poster:

I can't believe this is the first I've heard that a Man From UNCLE movie had been made, let alone that it will be released in January! How did I miss this?  http://www.bleedingcool.com/2014/12/22/first-image-man-u-n-c-l-e/

Figured I would post this here as well, though I imagine most [livejournal.com profile] section7mfu readers also read [livejournal.com profile] network_command.

The Awards Circuit site has put out predictions for possible 2015 Oscar Nominees.

Guess who is on the possible contenders list for BEST ACTOR in a LEAD ROLE? None other than Henry Cavill in THE MAN FROM U.N.C.L.E.!

Now granted, these prognostications are all conjectural in the extreme since nothing but a few clips and a trailer here and there have been seen by the critics for any of these films.

Still, that Cavill is even on the list makes me even more hopeful about the new movie being a worthwhile retake on our beloved 1960s series.

Oh my, oh my, lookie here! Set photos from the MFU movie shoot!

...though missing the ending period...

This is a sign from the 2nd Unit Production Office for the new MAN FROM U.N.C.L.E. movie now filming in the U.K.

Hey folks,

It looks like the new MAN FROM U.N.C.L.E. movie will be going a bit into the backgrounds of our two favorite agents.

Seems that a "younger incarnation of Solo" has just been cast for the movie.

Link is here.

The "villain of the piece" in the upcoming MAN FROM U.N.C.L.E. movie has been cast in Luca Calvani.

Here's the story link

You know, there really are a lot of hot men in this movie. [wink]

Hey guys, finally an official announcement from the WB.

Here is the link.
[identity profile] carabele.livejournal.com
MFU fans may find this tidbit from the August 25th entries on Row Three interesting.

It actually has to do with Guy Ritchie being tagged by Warner Bros. for the film project EMPIRE RISING. However, there is an oblique reference to the upcoming THE MAN FROM U.N.C.L.E. movie that definitely suggests WB expects the director's current focus to be on MFU.

Ritchie’s current project is also a Warner Bros. feature and filming for The Man from U.N.C.L.E. has yet to commence. It looks like filming for Empire Rising will begin only after the spy series hits theatres next year. Warner Bros. obviously has a lot of faith in Ritchie’s ability and his talent at keeping the box office hits coming.

Note that sentence about the new (and I might highly touted) project only beginning filming "after the spy series hits theatres next year"...

Oh, and filming for the new MFU supposedly commences September 7th in London and Italy, according to the latest report.

Casting is moving forward for the Ritchie-directed, Cavill/Hammer-starring cinematic reboot of the THE MAN FROM U.N.C.L.E.

Seems the role of the Thrush femme fatale in the piece has been cast in the person of Elizabeth Debicki. Read article here and here.

ADDENDUM:
Folks may also find this article in Variety an interesting read.

Lookie here: Cavill confirms he is replacing Cruise in THE MAN FROM U.N.C.L.E. movie

Seems Cavill does indeed have the role of Napoleon Solo. So 3 cheers and a round of applause! WB finally got it right!

The movie is finally looking like it could turn into something worthwhile.  I think we can assume that all of Section VII is behind this new development, possibly even responsible for it.  We are, after all, propaganda and public relations. See what the future of MFU may look like here
