Okay, I hope I'm doing this right!

“Aha.” Napoleon took a fortune cookie from the bowl and broke it open. “Life is but a dream,” he read, raising an eyebrow.

“I doubt some people would feel that way.” Illya took a third. As he opened and read it, he frowned in bewilderment.

“What is it?” Napoleon asked. “Does it predict you’re going to meet the girl of your dreams?”

“Hardly. I can’t even understand what it is predicting.” Illya held it so Napoleon could see.

“459E725S.” Napoleon looked up. “In all honesty, it sounds like an address.”

“Which doesn’t belong in a fortune cookie.” Noticing something else, Illya’s eyes narrowed. “And that man over there seems interested in our discovery.”

Napoleon followed his gaze to a man at the counter. He was reading a newspaper, but was clearly studying them. “He doesn’t care much about being conspicuous, does he.”

Illya took in the man’s trenchcoat, fedora, and dark glasses. “Napoleon,” he said after a moment. “I think I killed that man in England.* Mr. Ecks.”

Napoleon looked at the enemy spy with new, stunned eyes. “He’s looking rather healthy now!”

Mr. Ecks folded the newspaper and came over to their table, hand extended. “Kuryakin. Solo. The paper.”

*Mr. Ecks is from The Odd Man Affair, the last episode of season 1. Illya stabs him in Hyde Park. That's him in my icon, the blond, in the company of his partner and probable friend Mr. Wye. I have a headcanon where they survived the episode and escaped London.

You have gotten us off to a fantastic start! Well done. Now let's see where selyndaep goes with this tomorrow! Maybe if the story really unfolds well we could go another round...but I'm getting ahead of myself.

Brava!

Sounds like a license plate to me, but then I'm not next ;) Nice start, or technically, second installment.

This was a really smooth segue from Mrua7's start--nicely done! The mysterious fortune, the reemergence of Ecks and Wye, the change of mood from relaxing off-time to threat and intrigue...yes!

I'm rather late in commenting as I was out of town and decided to wait and read the whole story up to my turn. I love the idea of a mysterious message in the cookie as well as the involvement of a THRUSHIE Illya thought he had killed.
