The Heart of the Matter...
Nov. 3rd, 2016 08:03 amAnd that's all about the new feature on LJ that allows readers to like, or give kudos or whatever we want to call it. I know some people don't like the idea but when it comes to writing and reading, it actually makes some sense if you're the person who is shy about leaving a comment. The heart icon lets a person say something that translates to 'I'm glad you wrote this, thank you'.
The catch is that you must be using the new version of LJ. I've switched over just so I can see the new feature, and to my relief there's been some revamping of what it was previously, which has eliminated some of my objections to it. I'll try it out for a while and see how it goes.
Speaking of 'a while'... I'm working more and right now looking at my entire week and weekend being taken up with the store or helping out my cousin with transportation. I haven't written or read anything, am way behind on all things LJ. Please know that I'm with you in spirit and will be getting around to reading as soon as I can stay awake after dark ;) You know I'm pressed for time when I can't even get out a drabble on Wednesday.
As always, thanks to those who are keeping our little boat afloat with challenges and calendars and comments and stories... Yay for all of you, this is an awesome community.

Date: 2016-11-03 01:52 pm (UTC)Why can't the like icon appear on every post, not just in the Feed.
You get a notification via email that someone liked your post, but when you click on the link it takes you to the original post s you can't see who 'liked' it....you have to find in the Feed.

Thanks for the info.

Date: 2016-11-04 01:04 am (UTC)It serves the same purpose as the 'kudos' on AO3, so not a new concept for a writing site.

Date: 2016-11-04 12:12 am (UTC)Anything to allow people to be even lazier while still pretending to be engaged, eh?
I can do without it.

Date: 2016-11-04 01:06 am (UTC)Think of it as being inclusive. Some people lack the confidence to compose a comment, so I don't object to a means of offering support for the writers.
