Not having a computer at the moment doesn't help but soon to be rectified, as I do have my iPad and a wireless keyboard thanks to a friend!!!

BUT am STILL unable to make any comments on anyone's postings as LJ is acting up again!  So you're not being ignored...just wanted to let you know.

Write on!
[identity profile] glennagirl.livejournal.com
Okay, we have links to various different venues that include DW, AO3 and ff.net. My question to you is this: Do you have a preference for where you post and/or read?  This is assuming that many or most are no longer posting content here on LJ.
I'm just wondering how this is all going.  I tend to post on DW and copy the link here.  Of course I haven't written or posted anything significant lately, so I'm depending on those of you who have to set this on course.
I ask because DW is a valid archive for us, especially since older entries should all be there now even as they are here on LJ, going back to 2012.  Are you more satisfied utilizing the secondary outlets?
I suppose it doesn't really matter, but it seems like something we might talk about.
[identity profile] glennagirl.livejournal.com
I posted this on DW, but wanted to get some feedback from the LJ readers.

Okay, so this is Section VII on Dreamwidth, and I'm still importing entries from LJ, although I've missed a few days and need to get back to it.
[livejournal.com profile] seagull2eagle has kindly offered to transfer our banner over to this comm, so that's very cool. It will look more like home I think.
If you're reading here on DW, please let us know.  I don't have a picture yet of how this is going, utilizing both  platforms, and it would be interesting and helpful to know where the majority of folks are tending to MFU business.  If you would just post a comment regarding your preferences.
Obviously this is being generated on DW, but I will post it on LJ as well, in order to get some feedback.
Thanks, carry on...

I've left the poll open for all who are interested.

I started importing the comms yesterday, and while Section VII has finished except for what came after the request, the Map Room is still in the queue await completion.  This is a slow process at times, especially when we have so many entries to catch up to.
My goal is to still post on LJ and here, giving people the option to still utilize LJ if they wish.  Many people have indicated they will no longer post entire entries but will utilize links to outside venues, such as AO3 or ff.net.  I think that's a good idea and saves having to re-post at a later date.

mrua7 sent me an except from an email she received with emphasis on certain conditions of the new LJ agreement.  I'm writing this initially on Dreamwidth and copying it to LJ.
Please feel as free as you can to comment, either on LJ or at DW.  If you don't have a Dreamwidth account you can go www.dreamwidth.org

mrua7 sent me an except from an email she received with emphasis on certain conditions of the new LJ agreement.  I'm writing this initially on Dreamwidth and copying it to LJ. Although there isn't an actual statement of intent to plagiarize or edit the work, if we're still looking at LJ then we have signed the agreement and our work is, for all practical purposes, no longer strictly our own.  Perhaps this was always true, but seeing it in print is a little problematic for me.  I'm open to counter opinions and enlightenment.

Is there anyone around who can take our banner and transfer it to Dreamwidth?

Lockdown...

[livejournal.com profile] mrua7 has alerted us to the hackers and spammers scenario, and to avoid any real damage to our community I've set the locks on a few things.  Only members may post and new membership is moderated.  We've had to do this once or twice, just to avoid the nuisance that these people present.  Hopefully we can open things up shortly.
In the meantime, writing and reading is highly recommended by all.
[identity profile] mrua7.livejournal.com
Our comm. as well as the Canteen have been hit with spam videos as of late, usually vids related to cats. (at the moment)

As you know we generally post vids here related to MFU or a MFU story, (or a particular holiday) so just as a precaution, don't open these cat videos as they could contain a virus.  I've been deleteing the vids and banning the users, but the vids keep showing up under different user names.

We may have to go back to locking  the community, temporarily.  Which means non-members will have to be approved to join Section VII in order to post. We deny any suspicious requests for membership and ban the user name.

However, this non-MFU vid- related to my post is safe to view:

Perhaps some of you have heard the rumblings about the changes being made at Live Journal, including the move of headquarters to Russia.  There are a few whispers going 'round that the site may be in for some turbulent times, including hacking or invasions of privacy.  For several years we have maintained an account on Dreamwidth, a similar journaling site that has served as a back up of sorts whenever LJ has had issues, which at one point we thought might be very serious.
I have been updating communities on Dreamwidth, transferring all of our posts and comments to that version of our lives here on LJ.  You can access Section 7 by going HERE
I will continue to transfer from other comms we have here on LJ: [livejournal.com profile] mfu_map_room ; [livejournal.com profile] mfu_gallery
Dreamwidth isn't an exact duplicate of LJ, the environment is different but the concept is intact and the methods of posting and viewing basically the same.  If you don't already have an account there, I am going to suggest that you consider opening one.  It's a back up, but in times past it has been a necessary one, and may be again if things go wonky.  According to their recent newsletter they have experienced a surge of new accounts, many of them Russian in origin.  You can read the newsletter HERE
I post there as girlintheglen and ironically my last post there was about a hitch on LJ.  LIke I said, we've used it as a back up plan in the past.
You can post questions here in the comments or PM me here at LJ.  We'll probably be addressing this periodically.

Congratulations to all the Round Robin writers!  This comment in from Live Journal today!: T'was the UNCLE Round Robin made it into the top-25 most popular entries in LiveJournal!

And that's all about the new feature on LJ that allows readers to like, or give kudos or whatever we want to call it.  I know some people don't like the idea but when it comes to writing and reading, it actually makes some sense if you're the person who is shy about leaving a comment.  The heart icon lets a person say something that translates to 'I'm glad you wrote this, thank you'.

The catch is that you must be using the new version of LJ.  I've switched over just so I can see the new feature, and to my relief there's been some revamping of what it was previously, which has eliminated some of my objections to it.  I'll try it out for a while and see how it goes.

Speaking of 'a while'... I'm working more and right now looking at my entire week and weekend being taken up with the store or helping out my cousin with transportation.  I haven't written or read anything, am way behind on all things LJ.  Please know that I'm with you in spirit and will be getting around to reading as soon as I can stay awake after dark ;)  You know I'm pressed for time when I can't even get out a drabble on Wednesday.

As always, thanks to those who are keeping our little boat afloat with challenges and calendars and comments and stories... Yay for all of you, this is an awesome community.

Question

"Your email address has been marked as unvalidated because we have been receiving errors messages from your mail server for at least one week. This indicates the address may no longer be functional. You can re-validate this email address or switch to a new email address to begin receiving notifications again."

The above statement started appearing the other day on the top of my screen.  Number one, I know I received notifications this week regarding comments.  I don't seem to have gotten any today, but it's not unusual for the notifications to show up hours after you guys have commented.

So my question is: Have any of you ever received this notification and acted on it?

It just seems to me that if this were legit, I would be sent a PM rather than have a banner on the top of my page screen.
[identity profile] alynwa.livejournal.com
Hi, Cousins.  I want to look at a posting I scheduled for this week.  However, when I click on "scheduled entries" under my name and enter "section vii," I keep getting a "no scheduled entries" message.  This always happens to me!

Does anyone have an answer or suggestion?
[identity profile] carabele.livejournal.com
This message is for Glenna. Sent you a PM message as well, but just in case.

I got a PM message saying I was removed as a maintainer of Section VII. As a result I was unable to perform a tag cleanup today.

Something up?

Please be sure to join us on Sunday, August 20, in Delfloria's where we will be interviewing Cousins Jantojones!
[identity profile] glennagirl.livejournal.com
One of the regular features at [livejournal.com profile] mfu_delflorias has been interviews, both of readers and writers. [livejournal.com profile] spikesgirl58 says she's out of candidates, so if you are interested in and willing to share about your love of MFU then please pm me or spikesgirl and let's get you in the queue.  It's nice to get to know each other a little better, and this is a fun way to do it.  Spike added this:

''If you could, you might mention that we have many interviews available, not just for writers, but also, artists, video makers, fans, and betas.''

There you go.  Let's get some new interviews posted .

Writer's Choice will return to it's regularly scheduled programming next weekend...

That's because everyone is probably going to spend today in the Canteen at the 'letting off some steam' party. Everyone is invited! The Glitter ball is up, (Mr. Waverly has given a warning regarding that after last year's Christmas party)  The cooler is stocked, food is arriving and the music has already started.

Napoleon and Illya will no longer be waiting tables... instead they are now dressed as Chippendale dancers....hmmm one of their best disguises to date.

Since there are so many cousins coming in for this party from all over the world...it sounds like it will be an 'all day' affair.

Lots of food, drink, dancing, fun and games!  (and whatever mischief Solo and Kuryakin can get into...they were the instigators at the Christmas party as I recall.
