mrua7 sent me an except from an email she received with emphasis on certain conditions of the new LJ agreement.  I'm writing this initially on Dreamwidth and copying it to LJ. Although there isn't an actual statement of intent to plagiarize or edit the work, if we're still looking at LJ then we have signed the agreement and our work is, for all practical purposes, no longer strictly our own.  Perhaps this was always true, but seeing it in print is a little problematic for me.  I'm open to counter opinions and enlightenment.
Please feel as free as you can to comment, either on LJ or at DW.  If you don't have a Dreamwidth account you can go www.dreamwidth.org

"Basically they're saying the site has the right to take anything we post on LJ and use it as well as alter it as they see fit.   That holds true for private messaging too....
addendum about the new agreement. Credit to lj user kirathaune, who inserted the bold type.

Of particular note - CREATORS, PAY ATTENTION TO THIS:

“9. Content

9.1. By posting Content, User shall:

9.11. Guarantee to the Administration that Content and terms of its appearance on the Service meets all the requirements of the applicable laws, that User has received all rights and permits necessary to post such a Content;

9.12. In respect of any Content which constitutes intellectual property, User provides to the Administration a non-exclusive (simple) license to use his/her Content in order to provide the Service by reproducing his/her Content as well as by making it public for the entire period the Content is posted on the Service. If User participates in any rankings or if User’s Content is used in any editorial projects of the Service, User provides to the Administration an additional authorisation to modify, shorten and amend his/her Content, to add images, a preamble, comments or any clarifications to his/her Content while using it, and in certain cases based on the Service functions, an authorisation to use User’s Content anonymously.”

Also, in the definition of Terms, section 3:

Content means User`s information within the Service, including any information published during the process of Registration, in Blogs and Communities as a note or comment as well as sent by User in private messages using the Service.”

Is there anyone around who can take our banner and transfer it to Dreamwidth?

The Geek Squad held my baby hostage for 8, count 'em, 8 days!  I'm in "Catch Up" mode right now, so bear with me, please.

Hi! I'm having computer issues again. I don't know how long they'll last; I'm on my IPad right now. Sigh. I can't post my stuff though I have already scheduled the Song Story challenge.

Question

"Your email address has been marked as unvalidated because we have been receiving errors messages from your mail server for at least one week. This indicates the address may no longer be functional. You can re-validate this email address or switch to a new email address to begin receiving notifications again."

The above statement started appearing the other day on the top of my screen.  Number one, I know I received notifications this week regarding comments.  I don't seem to have gotten any today, but it's not unusual for the notifications to show up hours after you guys have commented.

So my question is: Have any of you ever received this notification and acted on it?

It just seems to me that if this were legit, I would be sent a PM rather than have a banner on the top of my page screen.

Hi, Cousins.  I want to look at a posting I scheduled for this week.  However, when I click on "scheduled entries" under my name and enter "section vii," I keep getting a "no scheduled entries" message.  This always happens to me!

Does anyone have an answer or suggestion?

Thanks!

Is one having problems with their Visual editor? Am unable to post using it and had to switch to HTML so can't use the LJ cut with it or post images...

I sent a support request but was just curious to see if anyone else is having issues.
[identity profile] mrua7.livejournal.com
I've been having internet issues since last night, so no writing no posting. I'm using wifi at McDonalds right now just to get out a few emails.
Hopefully it will be back up sooner than later.  So for now no PicFic today...sigh. Will worry about tomorrow...tomorrow. (another sigh)

HELP?

Is anyone having problems not seeing names beneath the user icons when visiting Section 7.  Please let me know if you are seeing the names or not?

This is what Lindafishes8 is seeing. Hmmm...

This is a photo of Section VII taken a moment age. As you can see, there are no writers names under the icons. I told Glenna and she said on her computer, the names are there. Now...when I sent you a reply to your comment in Sect.7, your name was under the icon. What in the world is going on?~ Lindafishes8

FYI...some of you may or may not be able to see the image posted in this message. I've corrected it twice, and each time it posts fine with the image available, but when I go back to it, the image is missing.

The picture is one that Lindafishes posted showing the user icons missing the names...

LJ Issues

For those of you able to read this, you're lucky as there are major issues with Live Journal. It took me all day to get onto this site!  In lieu of these LJ  issues, an alternate section7mfu has been set up on Dreamwidth.  A lot of cousins are already there and everything from Section VII has been archived.  Today is the weekly drabble challenge "A Little Drabble do Ya" so sign in and contribute a few words on DW!  Once things are hopefully fixed with LJ, it's my understanding that we can crosspost simultaneously with DW and LJ.

Just as an FYI, in case you haven't been able to access these, here are the warnings and announcements posted by Live Journal.

We apologize for the inconvenience these problems have caused.
LiveJournal is currently up, but you may encounter some problems while attempting to use the service. Specifically, some pages may load slowly, the site may not respond when trying to login, and attempting to post entries or comments may result in intermittent errors. For people using certain Internet Service Providers (ISPs), LiveJournal is completely unavailable. You can read more here.

Specifically, some pages may load slowly, the site may not respond when trying to login, and attempting to post entries or comments may result in intermittent errors. For people using certain Internet Service Providers (ISPs), LiveJournal is completely unavailable.
While LiveJournal has experienced some issues with our servers which we have posted about earlier, these issues have been resolved. The current problems are being caused by a sharp increase in malicious traffic which began on December 31. The first wave of that traffic was targeted at profile pages. As a temporary response to this, we disabled profile pages to maintain availability of the rest of the service.
We have already un-blocked profile pages but at this time, but some people using ISPs which have contributed to the malicious traffic are still being blocked by our mitigation system. We understand that there are legitimate users affected by this; in order to allow these people to access the site, we are taking steps to make the list of blocked addresses more precise so no legitimate users are affected.
In case your ISP is being blocked, there are several ways you can try to access the site:

  • The Opera browser has a Turbo mode which works like a proxy server; LiveJournal may be available through this feature in Opera;
  • If have access to an alternate ISP, try connecting through that ISP;
  • You can try using any proxy servers available to you so your request is routed through networks that are not being blocked. If you do this, we strongly suggest you only use the servers you trust; passing your username and password through an untrusted network (e.g. in order to log in) can result in your account being compromised.

I am currently without my little Mac, it had a hardware issue that has necessitated sending it to the warranty people for a procedure, or something.  I hope they can fix it and save me the hassle of trying to find a replacement for the same money I spent originally.
I am having some time related issues trying to keep up with all of your entries, so please know that all of them are valued and that my lack of response is not due to anything save this technical glitch I'm experiencing.
Hopefully I'll have something cleared up and be spared the daily treks to the library by the middle of next week.  In the meantime, keep writing, reading and being awesome.
I guess I could go and revisit the concept of writing longhand.  Now that's a  real writing challenge ;)

Illya: "Look at this, Napoleon. Someone has turned the mass spectrographic sphygnomamometric ultra special spectrometer into a latte frother. No wonder Glenna's computer will not work."

Napoleon: "Those THRUSH devils! Will they stop at nothing in their evil quest to thwart Cousin Glenna's creative impulse?"

Illya: "Fools. They should know better." (Pauses.) "Coffee?"

Napoleon: "Might as well. Make mine a venti half-caff, double-shot caramel macchiato."

Illya: (Snorts derisively) "Hedonist."

Glenna's computer woes are nearly over--yay! Keep sending good thoughts her way.

Glenna has called in the big guns to assist her in restoring her connection to LJ. Surely it won't be long now!

As of last night, Glennagirl's connection to LJ was still down, although she has some access to LJ via her smartphone. Send her some good vibes, please, and a hearty prayer that her service can be restored very soon. Meanwhile, let's stay connected, Cousins!
