Many years passed as Illya Kuryakin became a loyal member of the Party;  doing and going where he was told.  His instincts led him not to trust Viktor Karkoff and he did his best to stay under the radar, disassociating himself from his sponsor.

As a child of  war, living in the orphanage and his training had taught him many hard lessons in life.  

"In-one ruble,exit-two rubles. Meaning joining GRU was easy, to leave it difficult. You are being given an easy exit,” said Alexander Waverly.

The offer if refused would bring Illya death, if he accepted, he might live.

HODOWE: San Fermin Challenge Guidelines

There is a lot more time -- nine weeks -- for folks to ponder and polish a story for this upcoming HODOWE: San Fermin Story Challenge. So hopefully lots of people will find they have tales they want to write.

CHALLENGE: Write an MFU fanfic story regarding the ideas embodied in San Fermin. The story doesn't have to necessarily mention or include the day by name; just embody a scenario that fits the concept behind it. This is a difficult one for me to provide general ideas as I am not that familiar with the meaning behind the holiday. We all know that the 'main event' of the week-long festival is the running of the bulls. From what I can gather that originated from the mistaken belief that St. Fermin was martyred by being pulled apart between two bulls to which he was tethered. But that story isn't true as it was in reality his bishop who actually suffered that horrific form of martyrdom for his faith. Still, I suppose you could say courage is at the forefront of the holiday, as well as dedication to one's beliefs even in the face of extreme adversity.

STATISTICAL STUFF: Minimum of 500 words with no set maximum. Must fit into the overall concepts of this community, i.e., contain no explicit adult material and reflect the 1960s series in style and content.

POSTING: To this forum (and on fanfiction dot net), starting on July 8th and ending on July 14th.

Prayers for Glenna

    Just to let everyone know: Glenna has been in a Kentucky hospital for the past couple of days. Apparently she had a much more severe asthma attack than previously, and the doctors were unable to get it under control. She's in ICU, and was listed in critical condition up until a couple of hours ago. The doctors had her on a ventilator, which thankfully, has now been removed. Her condition has been upgraded (to stable, I think) and she's finally awake.

     I'm very sorry I didn't think to post over here earlier--I guess I wasn't thinking straight. Anyway, please send good thoughts and healing prayer to our Cousin as she recovers from this rather scary event. Let's also hope that the doctors can diagnose what's really going on, because (IMHO) I'm pretty sure it isn't asthma.
