Napoleon Solo was an observant man, but his acute senses weren’t needed to tell him his partner was just not acting like himself.


That shouldn’t have been the case as this was a simple dead drop they were sent to take care of.  Picking up a parcel and delivering it to headquarters in the city was a milk run, and nothing more.


The agent whose assignment it had been was involved in a car accident and Solo volunteered he and Illya’s services to make the pickup before they returned to New York.

Okay, I'm thinking that instead of the What's My Line? prompt on Thursday, I'm submitting this instead ... today.  (Sorry Linda, it snuck up on me ;)
I was writing and a line of dialogue made me think of this song, and upon viewing it and listening to it the thought occured to me that it is a really interesting prompt for an MFU story.
Jump in and let's see where it goes.  Don't neglect the other challenges, and this can linger for a while and be posted any time... including Thursday.

The meal was consumed with gusto, and the iced tea filled a seemingly endless thirst that only that fine brew could satisfy.  As Napoleon and Illya made their exit from the little restaurant and headed back to the hotel room, each man felt as though his steps were staggering slightly, a buzz of some sort beginning to cloud details and memory.

It had been decades since the old water mill had been in operation. The wheel was rotting and the stone building was crumbling, yet it looked beautiful nestled amongst the overgrown foliage. Not that Illya Kuryakin had any inclination to admire the surrounding beauty. It was what he couldn’t see which held his interest.

The old mill was a relic from past centuries, a stark reminder that time would ravage all things, eventually.  As Illya Kuryakin looked around the grounds he was aware that his partner Napoleon was watching him.
