Solo and Kuryakin were a team in the truest sense of the word. At times they found no need to say anything to each other; they just seemed to know what the other was thinking and would act accordingly.
Most paired agents seemed to develop that sort of rapport, but with these two it went beyond intuitiveness. Theirs was a deep friendship and not just a partnership..
Napoleon was the strategist, often coming up with his plans by the seat of his pants; still, the man was brilliant.
Illya was the one who took those plans and ran with them. His was more a bull in a china shop approach.

Napoleon Solo was contemplating his birthday, at least the expectation of his next birthday. It was a few months away still, but he would be thirty years old, a milestone for any young man but for an UNCLE agent… geesh, it meant he only had ten years left in the field.

Napoleon stared at the kid behind the desk. "What do you mean I can't go in?" he asked blankly. "There's got to be some mistake here, you said yourself we were expected."
"Um." The kid squirmed nervously. "I'm sorry, Mr Solo, there was an issue with your background check, and it's standard policy in these cases to conduct deeper checks. I'm going to need you to wait."
"My background check?" Napoleon repeated incredulously. "What do the FBI have against my background all of a sudden?"
