Challenge # 1:

Season Two’s “The Waverly Ring Affair” introduced us to several concepts that were not mentioned again during the course of the series: Detraining, HQ exits that were not through Del Floria’s, File 40 and the Waverly Ring itself.  The challenge is to take any or all of those concepts and write a story that includes a Halloween reference.

Author’s Notes: Carmella Del Floria is Sal’s wife.  Svetlana is Illya’s adoptive Babushka and owns Svetlana’s, A Russian/Ukrainian restaurant in Manhattan.

Posting for this challenge will commence Thursday, October 29th.  There is only one challenge and it is this:

In Season Two's "The Bat Cave Affair," Count Zark is infuriated to realize that Illya Kuryakin is unfamiliar with him.  "I have fantasies of UNCLE giving orders: 'Get Zark at any price!' and here you've never even heard of me!"

The challenge is: Write a story that explains why Zark felt he was, or should have been, one of UNCLE's most wanted.

The rules are the same as any Episode Challenge.  Remember, we are looking for Halloween - themed tales.

Happy writing!

Section VII always has something going on, some challenge or other you can join in and an open policy for posting non-challenge gen fiction.
During Halloween Week all of the regular challenges will have that as a theme, and include Short_Affair, PicFic and A Little Drabble Do Ya.  On Thursday 29th, both Great Episode Challenge and What's My LIne? will be posting so that you have even more opportunities to run screaming from your computer with your hair on fire from the extreme output of creative energy.
And don't forget HODOWE, honoring Sweetest Day.  HODOWE is our original challenge vehicle here on Section VII, the Holidays Of Dubious Origins Writing Event.  It's how we got started in the challenge business.  If you haven't already, you can read all of the HODOWE stories from past events by following the link below.
Okay, that's all.  You have your reminders, your links and hopefully the vim and vigor necessary to write yourself, and us, loads of new stories.  Now get going!

So, does anything or anyone come to mind when you hear that it's National Grouch Day?  I can think of a few references to a certain blond with that description of attitude.  In honor of this special day, how about a short story, drabble or photo that depicts our agents being grouchy.  Come on, what else are you going to do today?

I hadn't realised there was a day in my honour :-) I haven't got anything new for [livejournal.com profile] glennagirl's impromptu challenge, but I can give you a link to a story I wrote last year. It's called Grumpy.

The picture below bears no relation to the story above. I just love his scowling expression.

Twang!

The rubber band flew across the room and hit the wall just behind Illya's head. Ah, so close and yet so far. Biting his tongue in concentration, Napoleon carefully selected his next piece of ammunition and squinted at his target.

Illya was sitting at his desk, flicking between two piles of papers and diagrams – one in Japanese and one in Russian - and comparing them to a small heap of electrical components in front of him. Honestly, Napoleon wasn't quite sure what he was doing, and at this point it was a matter of pride not to ask. He could have been attempting some new breakthrough of science and engineering, or he could have been trying to repair his record player. After all, it didn't matter.

He lined up the band....

Twang.
