As you are all no doubt aware, Monday 19th September will be the 83rd birthday of Mr David McCallum. To celebrate this wonderful occasion Section VII is holding a birthday Party for his alter-ego, Illya Kuryakin. Hopefully you will have seen the invitation which was posted last week. If not, you can see it here.

As part of the celebrations, we are having a one off Special Short Affair. Instead of the usual word/colour prompt combination there will be a single sentence instead. The word count is still between 300 and 1000, and all the other rules still apply. You can find those beneath the cut.

The prompt is:

Happy Birthday, Illya Kuryakin.

You’ve got a week to come up with something. You can do anything you want with the prompt, such as angst, fluff, drama, silly, etc., just so long as the central theme is Illya’s birthday.

Don’t forget the posting for today, which is a normal Short Affair post. You can find those prompts right here.

Have fun.

Does anyone else like the idea of sending Mr. McCallum a birthday greeting from Section VII, or perhaps a sitewide greeting?  I'm not sure how to put it together, what it should look like... Anyone?
Perhaps we allude to our continued appreciation beyond MFU but admit our unabashed love of the series and IK.  We don't have a lot of time and I don't even know where we'd send it, or if digital is the way to go.  Help me out if you have an idea or suggestion or a complete, awesome plan.

It was the last place in which Solo and Kuryakin had expected their quarry to run.

After chasing him on foot for blocks, Arturo Sandoval made a quick turn up the steps and ran straight into St. Cecilia's Roman Catholic Church.

Of course the agents followed him there, taking the steps in leaps and bounds before heading through the large wooden doors leading inside. They stopped dead in their tracks as their abrupt entrance drew the attention of the people inside, with heads turning at the noise the agents made.

Napoleon and Illya’s guns that had been drawn just before they burst through the door, were immediately ducked out of sight back into their shoulder holsters.

“Shhh Hush!” A white haired woman silenced them, putting a warning finger to her lips.

After enjoying a two hour session in the gym, Napoleon spent a further forty-five minutes getting himself ready for his date. Ordinarily, he would prepare at home, but there wouldn’t be time. Besides, since he was having dinner at Maria’s apartment, he could drive her home when her shift in Communications ended. He had just finished applying his aftershave and was retrieving the things would need for the evening from his locker, when Illya entered the changing room.

Illya watched in satisfaction as the building imploded and crumbled to the ground.  This particular THRUSH lab was located in a populated area the Russian had to take great care to place his explosives so that it collapsed inward on its footprint instead of sending debris and shrapnel blasting into the surrounding area.  It wasn’t as much fun to watch, but it was equally effective.

April Dancer looked up in surprise as her office door opened with a knock and a click. A head poked round. It was twenty-two-year old Harry Lennox, newest recruit to section three.

“Harry! Come in. Is everything all right?”

Harry inserted his body into the room. He carried a long, thin parcel in the crook of one arm, and a letter in the other.

           “Miss…er…April, is Mark Slate here?”
