Here we are in the days before Memorial Day Weekend, and the world is beginning to open up just a little.  I saw on the news yesterday that Italy is attempting to get back to some semblance of normal, and people were shown being nearly giddy at the sense of freedom they were experiencing for the first time in two months.

I'm curious how things are going elsewhere, if anyone is venturing out as the stores and restaurants begin to open for business.  Hopefully the small businesses that have been forced into closing can still survive.  I have a good friend who has been hanging onto a thread during this, and was rewarded by a kindness from her landlord to be given free rent for as long as it takes.  The benefit of owning a building allows for this sort of graciousness, and one hopes that it is more common than we know.

Personally, my own employer, Pier 1 Imports, was already in Chapter 11 bankruptcy when this started, and as of a few days ago had announced stores won't be re-opening until at least June 1.  They need to be able to open at least 50% of the stores before considering a definite date.  So, more time to figure out my next step to develop my own brand.  I see Etsy in my future.

Tell us then, what's the status in your area?

They are trying to save fan history ---but the archive can be easily assembled and actually, lots of those stories are still available on fanfiction.net and AO3. What could have been the real loss was the Channel D archive on Yahoogroups, but I *think* I n=may have saved it, along with the other Channels too.

My husband, Mr. I.T. Support helped and I did open a few of the emails to make sure they were there. Of cours,e then my computer crashed and I thought I'd lost it but my husband assures me we did not.

Now that the semester is over and I get some time, I see if everything is ok.

Still here

Still here and virus free.

49 of our 67 counties have already moved to Yellow which allows for a lot more movement, but still keeping some social distancing. Can't be too hard in counties with less than 200,000 people. My county is staying at Red lockdown for now, but our new cases are slowing down too. It looks like the curve is actually trending downward across most of the state. Maybe my county will move to Yellow in early June if everyone behaves.

I've been getting groceries by delivery or contactless pickup. There were weird shortages at first but getting back to normal now. Still hard to get toilet paper and paper towels, but I had a good supply pre-pandemic, so can last another couple weeks. I did end up with more cat food and litter than I need, so now that supply is getting back to normal,I plan to take some to the local Humane Society for their pet food bank. They provide the free pet food all the time, but now more people need it.

Cataract surgery is now re-re-scheduled for June 10, but could still change. I need to get the cat to the vet for his rabies shot and tooth cleaning soon too.

As it happens, this turned into a multi-chapter story.  This then, is the first chapter.

The setting was becoming familiar to the duo of Solo and Kuryakin.  Once again they were being sent into the world of fashion in order to catch THRUSH in the act of another attempt to snatch the world from its axis and set it into a motion engineered by the megalomaniac du jour.

The last outing of this sort had involved a crazy print that held the actual blueprint for a THRUSH strategy, a bizarre and dizzying cast of characters amidst the villains, and not a little bit of frustration for the UNCLE agents.  Hopefully this time, in this setting, things would not be quite so …

Oh my gawd! You cannot be serious darling, that is the most dreadful thing I have ever seen approaching a runway.”  The man speaking was dressed in brocade and silk, a flouncy jabot down the front of his shirt in the manner of the faux Edwardians whose style permeated Swinging London. His objection to the garment on his model was magnified by the exclamation.  The dress was in a popular fashion; a mini-skirt topped by an over sized blouse that had an orange sash that hung down, as though to accentuate the short skirt.  It was awkward.
