It's odd but I don't remember a sense of panic that we were under any sort of attack. Where I grew up (and still today) I lived not far from a government munitions depot, which in the event attack would be something targeted for sure. Thank goodness nothing nuclear there.

Yes there was a baby boom in 1966, so that pretty much says what people where doing when the lights went out.

Sadly we've had several big blackouts in the area after hurricane Sandy...that week I had no power at all. Still these other blackouts, you can't help but have your mind jump to some sort of terrorist attack. Both cases it was a transformer being hit by lightning, and then by a car accident. It actually took me years to get over that sinking feeling in my stomach every time a jet plane flies low over where I live...probably will never get over it completely.
