The Unified Northern Casualty and Liability Exchange proudly presents The Great Episode Challenge.
This monthly challenge includes two prompts drawn from a single episode, allowing you to explore unresolved scenes, unanswered questions, and uncertain motivations.
And now for tonight's program.
In New York City, on a street in the East Forties, there’s an ordinary tailor shop. Or is it ordinary?
Episode: The Gazebo in the Maze Affair (S1E27)

Prompt 1: Seven years earlier, Emory Partridge turned a Latin American country into his own feudal state, until Napoleon and UNCLE drove him into the rain forest. Later Edith Partridge reveals she is responsible for their survival and escape. So the questions arise…How did UNCLE drive Partridge out? Why does Partridge hold Napoleon personally responsible? How did Edith save Emory from the rain forest?
Prompt 2: Edith Partridge has fond memories of South America, particularly the “young men in their sparkling uniforms.” She thinks Illya “very sort-of physical looking in an unusual way” and gets a bit handsy with him in the dungeon. The questions…Did Edith have a yen for Illya? And for Napoleon? And for any handsome young man? What would happen if Illya and Napoleon encountered Edith again?
Inquiring minds want to know.
For the challenge, write a story inspired by one of the prompts. If you have already written a story that addresses any of these questions, please repost it.
