Oh. I just wondered if you'd gotten some nasty comments. I've been pretty lucky, I guess. I don't think I've gotten more than maybe one meanspirited remark (In HP, not UNCLE) ever ...

Nothing nasty, just the occasional ordinary question or disagreement. I take those seriously and reply accordingly.

I had never had anything to do with social media before becoming involved in this, thankfully, very benign forum so it's been an interesting education in a very strange phenomenon. I was particularly intrigued by the emotional stresses it can generate, even in someone as old as I am, so it has roused my sympathies for the young who must be much more vulnerable. My background includes fifteen years working in Cambridge University, an extremely poisonous place at times, which provided a good training to recognise and deal with what goes on in social media.

So as it's obviously better to thwart the weird, angry, inadequate, sociopathic element in social media rather than indulge them, I ignore them and don't reply - it takes two to tango.
