Roll Call?

I'll admit to being curious about how it's going for everyone, whether or not we're still having visitors, people checking to see what's being posted.  I can look at the stats and see numbers and the 'anonymous' lurkers, but I wonder how many are willing to just tick the heart icon to say you were here.

I'd expect that in these times, the internet activity is increased because of the stay at home orders we've mostly received.  Kentucky isn't on a severe lockdown, but we started early with following the recommendations and have kept our number of cases fairly low, thankfully.  Of course the landlocked states have fared the best in all of this, as opposed to the coastal states that have a steady stream of people due to shipping, tourism and any number of reasons for landing there.

Here on Section VII it would be nice to know how you're doing.  Some post on a regular basis, so we're accounted for.  Marian has moved and is in her new apartment, but she won't have internet for awhile.  I talk to her everyday, and can tell you that she's surrounded by boxes and still finishing up with the cleaning duties at the old apartment.  Kitties are all good, and the process of living in a new place has begun.

How about the rest of you, can you check in and let us know you're doing okay?  If you're willing, just respond in the comments.  Connecting is important, and I hope y'all will do that here.

Glenna

I'm still around and reading. The weather has been good for a change so I've been able to go out into the garden.

I'm surprised how much I miss shopping. Eldest doesn't go into work until eleven, so my normal routine has been to give him a lift to work and shop for groceries on an almost daily basis. He works in a bingo hall which is closed of course, and the government wants us to avoid shopping where possible so I'm only out twice a week. But all's well with us so far

I still have four months before I become officially vulnerable. :-)

I'm still around! I'm having to do my job from home which is costly (had to buy several things to make it work) and takes at least three times as long as just going in to work and doing it would. But I am fortunate to have a job and a paycheck.

I haven't left the house since Sunday, but today I will venture to the grocery and maybe the post office. Such excitement! Then, I will try to get ahead on next week's work.

I hope everyone out there is staying healthy. {{{{Hugs}}}}

We've been in lockdown since getting back from a weekend away, two weeks ago now. We're both in vulnerable categories - my husband is 84 and, though I'm much younger, I've had lung disease. Nevertheless, I've been out to get food shopping once or twice, and we both go for walks. My walk this afternoon was through almost deserted streets and onto the stray (one of the large pieces of common land that surround the city of York). When I passed others, we all courteously stepped aside to maintain two metres distance, smiling and saying 'thanks'.

The weather has been kind - wall to wall sunshine, though frosts in the morning and a cold wind, so I've been able to turn out the contents of the small conservatory into the garden and clean it properly. We'll be able to sit in it when the weather is warmer.

The worst thing was queuing (standing in line) outside the pharmacy to collect a repeat prescription for medication. We were all spread out keeping the regulation distance, but as the 8th in the queue, I stood in that cold wind for 50 minutes. Was I shrammed (nice Yorkshire word for frozen stiff)!

My sister and her husband were trapped in southern Spain until all the hotels and campsites closed, when they were allowed to leave. They had to down load a lot of bureaucratic paperwork to enable them to drive north through France to get the Shuttle (the vehicle-carrying train that goes through the Channel Tunnel). They're home now and in self-imposed quarantine.

I lived through various epidemics in the 1950s when I was at primary school and mercifully avoided catching anything - like the frightening epidemic of polio, and the slightly less frightening 'Asian' flu. But however frightened you are, you can only go with the flow, be sensible and hope for the best.

I'm fine; I've been self-isolating since March 13th when I returned home from a week in the US and British Virgin Islands. I don't know what I do all day, but it takes all day to do it. I enjoy my own company so I'm never bored. I have a bunch of projects that I could be doing; haven't gotten to any of them yet, including writing though I do have an idea for a story.

I've only been outside to get the mail (every few days) and head to the store for food and that's only happened four times. Been doing a lot of cooking, though I did go get takeout twice.

I do have a Song Story challenge to post for April if we're still doing those.

I check in to The Canteen, Scrapbook and Section7 everyday. Always pleased when there is something new to read or a not-seen-before photo.
I've been keeping busy painting my spare room so that I can shift all my art equipment in and not have it all squashed into my bedroom.
Went food shopping this morning - first time out since Sunday - and took a few frozen meals over to my sister's mother-in-law (93yrs). I phoned her when I got to her house and left the bag of shopping on her doorstep. Of course she's lived through all the upheaval & uncertainty of WW2 so she's keeping her chin up although she misses our weekly visits to her son who is wheelchair bound since he had a stroke about 13yrs ago.

Sending best wishes to everyone in the community. Keep safe.

Still here and well in south central PA. I've been semi-housebound since 2006 with chronic pain and fatigue and am also a strong introvert, so staying in is my normal routine. I also got in the habit of washing my hands very carefully when I was taking care of my sick parents, especially when coming in from outside. I'm taking walks around the neighborhood when I can (going out for exercise if permitted as long as you stay 6 ft away from everyone else.)

I've been ordering groceries online every two weeks and having them delivered for a couple years, so the only difference now is that the driver no longer brings them into the house; he puts them on the doorstep and runs back to the truck. Today, I had to drive to the store to pick up my order because the delivery schedule is overbooked. Big problem is that what is available fluctuates almost hour-by-hour, so I only got half of my last two orders.

My husband and myself are retired and living on the coast of Washington State. We are one of the hardest hit states in the US. We have a stay at home order, everything is closed. We have two greyhounds that we have to walk each day (or the house suffers). We had been able to go to the beach and walk, stay away from people etc. then last weekend (a beautiful sunny day) people from Portland Oregon and Seattle swamped the beaches like it was spring break...wall to wall stupidity. Now the beaches are closed and we can only walk the houndies up and down the street. We are both doing ok so far even tho my husband was in contact with people in Seattle who had traveled to Florida. It's unusually quiet and today it's raining and suppose to rain through next week.

I'm still around, and trying to write, but my anxiety levels have been pretty high right now which makes concentrating difficult. I'm one week into a twelve week lock down with my parents, and things are settling into a routine. Luckily, my parents have always had a habit of keeping fully stocked with food, toiletries etc. (just in case). All we really need regularly is milk and bread, which my sister leaves on the doorstep, and the our repeat prescriptions.

Our house has a biggish garden, so we at least have some outside space to spend time in (and it's usually this time of year that my Dad starts working on it. I feel for all the people who don't have such space.

Stay safe, and keep washing your hands :-)

My oldest has been home from college for two weeks. They asked the students to leave the dorms and changed all the classes to online. My school went to online learning this week too. So now there are 3 of us in my tiny house attempting to study and teach online. There’s not much distance in our distance learning. 😁

Long time lurker here. I'm well and reading MFU fanfic again. I became totally hooked on the British show Endeavour, which takes place in the same time frame of mid to late 1960s and as I started reading that fanfic (largely whump), I started to read MFU fanfic again, and am really enjoying myself. I may actually start writing MFU again.

I'm an east coaster, here in Connecticut very close to NYC, so everything is closed here except for grocery stores, pharmacies and restaurants open strictly for take-away. It's a weird, weird time we are living in. I'm working from home exclusively now having worked a couple of days in the office before coronavirus changed our world. I think I'm oddly well suited to the homebody life. I don't know how the very extroverted are handling this. It's an introvert world these days.

Not much difference for me. My new job was physically close to home, 4/10, three-day weekends. Now I'm working from home like the rest of my department, so my income won't suffer for the foreseeable. Amazon, Grubhub, Freshly, and Vons delivery see to all my other needs, and as long as nothing breaks in the house (there - I've just jinxed myself for sure) and me and my cat don't get sick, I'm in like Flynn.

It is easy to overeat at home, true. I need to really watch that. Wish I had my writing mojo working - it'd be easier to fill the down time. But I have an elliptical and a rower, so I get my exercise.

I could do this forever. :-) As long as they don't stop making toilet paper and other staples.

I'm concerned for my loved ones who have service type jobs and little reserve cash. This is going to hit them hard.

Hi Gang! it's been a while. I, too am a bit of a lurker. i've been home since 3/17. I have been able to take a walk here and there. I live in NY -- not Manhattan, but "da Bronx"! It is incredibly quiet. I have a young friend who is in ER doctor in Brooklyn and he posts daily about theCV. i hope that he remains healthy.
Luckily, i work from home with technology, and collect a paycheck! i am blessed. I am also am fortunate that i have a little back deck to sit out on and a small front porch. The neighbors will ocassionally chat from our porches. Dad enjoys that as he is more outgoing than I. i worry about him. He's88! and he hates the restrictions. While there are no services at church, he still goes every morning which makes me very anxious.
Anyroad, As i am a bit of an introvert, i can happily work all day, cook and have some fun with new recipes. And books and even a couple of projects. I hope that we all remain healthy. Thanks for this place to share! it's good to read about your experiences.

I know! I went into my store for eggs (the one thing Vons didn't deliver) and the produce aisles were full. Honestly, that gives me an idea that the people who're hoarding are (a) not eating very healthfully and/or (b) have never cooked in their lives.

Vons actually delivered for me: cauliflower, broccoli, strawberries, blueberries, blackberries, oranges and bananas, no problem.

Hi, I'm still around and healthy :-)
We've been in lockdown now for 15 days, and although I've always been good company for myself the isolation begins to weigh. I'm retired and living on a domain for retired and elderly people so we're all in the "unsafe" category. This means we can't visit one another and only communicate from a distance. Our villages and towns are in lockdown and any unnecessary displacements are forbidden. Since a few days our borders are closed. I mostly miss the phisical contact with my children and grandchildren. I only go out to walk with Max, my loyal Golden, and to do grocery shopping once a week. For the rest I keep busy with my many hobby's and try not to dwell on the awful times we live in. I hope the rest of you are also doing as well as can be expected and that we all may survive these troubled times unscathed :-)

The Trio and I are physically okay (no thanks to any of my neighbors in my apartment complex!)

I miss going to class, yet I cannot do the stuff that I was doing in class in my apartment complex (the PtBs frown on any sort of weapon, whether a bow, a bo, a sai, an atl atl, etc.) I guess most of my neighbors should be grateful that I cannot practice my homework...

I am considered vulnerable due to asthma, cardiac arrhythmia and diabetes.

The Trio are purring their hearts out, nomming their crunchies as well as watching Kitty TV (looking out an open window blind from their cat trees.) Heck of a lot better than what's on the radio!

I feel sorry for several of those who work for MCTS as well as those in the medical/psych field because they're on the front lines imho.

Bonjour tous le monde from a very stricken France. We are all ok however, since our region is less affected than those in the north.

As far as daily life is concerned, there is a national lockdown in France and there are very strict procedures for going out, including carrying a certificate to explain what you are doing. We consider ourselves truly fortunate though. We are pretty fit for our age and right now are fully occupied with work in the house and very large garden, on four levels! We are also privileged to have a chapel in our house so the pain of not going to Mass is a little lessened by the daily life of prayer we've established at home. So, keep safe everyone. I've been moved by reading all the entries here. I pray that all will be well.

Hello! Yes, Costa Rica is also in quarantine. There are no restrictions for people to go out shopping but stores are closing fast. Police is doing their best to keep drivers off the streets after 9pm, beaches and national parks are closed. Churches are closed too, Easter week celebrations are cancelled. Most workers are in paid leave but the tourist industry is suffering more than anyone else.
Hospitals are okay, so far are only 6 people in ICU and that's a remarkable positive number for a country of 5M.
I'm doing okay, at home with my sister and 90 year old father. He's very scared but hanging in there, since we're not freaking out. The house is big enough to keep our distance. There is a good backyard for our 9 dogs. We also shelter 28 cats but they're happy in the garden and their own apartment. Life goes on for our furry friends, so I haven't felt any cabin fever yet. As you can see, my sister and I are busy all day long with the normal routines. I go out occasionally to do the shopping, fortunately the main supermarkets are walking distance for me.
I keep myself informed about the situation in the world. As I said somewhere else, it's amazing that the same situation that has sent us away physically is also bringing us closer. Live long and prosper for us all and andrá tutto bene. Virtual hugs and kisses.

Sorry, this is late. Just stumbled across the post.

I am in Central NJ, not far from mrua7.

I am teaching online from home. Four uni courses. Late in the semester means projects starting. Lots to do. Not bored at lal.
In fact, I have not been out of the house except to make sure the battery wasn't dead in my car, since this all started. Don't care. Weather is chilly and rainy.

My husband does the food shopping and braves Shop Rite in the senior citizen's early hours. So yes, we have toilet paper.

Many of the local restuarants are closed, even for take-out, although we can still get pizza. I ordered 2 dozen fillet mignon online so we are eating well.

My son is bummed because he had to suspend his job hunt. He has a master's in data science now but for the jobs he'd want, the offices are closed and everyone is working from home.

He may end up again working the boardwalk this summer --- which he likes even if it doesn't pay well. But then again, who knows when things will begin to open again.

We would love to open our Shore house in April, but we'll need a plumber to turn on the water. Right now, the locals in North Cape May are not very keen on second house owners coming down. They only have a small hospital and one Acme.

So busy, not bored. I actually wish I had more time to read and watch DVDs but I am just about shoe-horning my regular TV shows in. And also attending online conferences with students and colleagues.
