We're well into this thing, and as the numbers rise I feel confident that people grow increasingly uneasy.  Marian, aka mrua7, says 'Hi', thanks you all for the virtual support as she makes her way through an apartment full of boxes, trying to find a way to unpack without the advantage of being able to put trash and empty boxes outside her door.  The task is made more difficult by the lock down she is under in New Jersey.

As I look out my window this morning I see that my pastor, who lives across the street, has just returned from delivering food to the homes of students in the county, those who are normally given subsidies during the school year. Our church began a summer program two years ago, and now the school board has asked us to step in and resume the program during the school closings.  We've had a donation of $3000 to help in the effort that we share with several other congregations and the school system.  All hands on deck.

I hope you're well, safe inside of your homes, possibly able to get outdoors periodically and breathe some fresh air.  It isn't possible for everyone, and so I've found a lovely video for you to enjoy, flying over Scotland.

Please continue to check in here, or in a new post with anything you'd like to share here with everyone.  A video, a story you've found or written... something to offer comfort and encouragement.

I'm here! I've posted a Song Story Challenge for April. I chose 2 songs by The Dramatics, one slow and one upbeat. I hope people will participate since it will take their minds off the current situation.

Other than that, I'm quite content to be in my house. I stay in touch via phone and Facebook with friends and family so I don't feel isolated at all.

Still here. We go for a walk, separately, every day for exercise, or to buy food. There aren't many people about but if we meet anyone, we try to keep a distance on narrow pavements, by stepping into the road, or right to the edge of the pavement. York is always a friendly place, but the smiles we continue to exchange with total strangers on these occasions are half apologetic 'nothing personal' and half conspiratorial 'we're all in this together, isn't it absurd?', which is nice.

Another unexpected pleasure is what has happened two weeks running on a Thursday night at 8pm, when we all come out onto our doorsteps or balconies to applaud the frontline workers in the NHS - there's a hospital nurse living in our street - and all the others, like care home staff, shop workers and so forth. It's a form of communication which produces a nice community feel, and enables us to see that people are OK. It may not last, but it's a way of surviving this bizarre lockdown.

It's become a national phenomenon, happening everywhere. It's quite special.
