Some of my favourite episodes are utterly silly, but bearable because they are redeemed by the acting ability not only of RV and DM, but of one or two wonderful character actors. Here's one:

Roger C. Carmel is a joy in this episode.

Harry Mudd. Can't beat him. He's over the top and always comical, but he manages a genuinely sinister and creepy edge in this episode.
