I haven't heard about any recalls on the new year, so it is still, to the best of my knowledge, 2021.  I have heard talk about impeaching 2020, in an effort to lessen the effects of all of those months of debilitating lockdowns and mental and emotional damage, in addition to the obvious physical dangers.

Oh well... sigh ...

So, here we are, forging into the new year with suspicion and anxiety still intact.  If time were able to benefit from something like a DVR, we could just fast forward or rewind, whichever would land us in a part of the story we actually like, and might want to keep replaying.  Yes, I think I like the rewind better than the fast forward.

Okay, enough of that.  We're here to read and write fun MFU stories.  I am going to post the link once more to the Christmas Round Robin, The Trouble In Times Square Affair You can also find it on AO3, but the sequence is off a little; I couldn't figure out how to post the chapters as it has been done in the past.  More need of that rewind option.

Today is normally for drabbles, so please feel free to put down your Hundred Words.  Or, share with us some stills from one of your favorite episodes.  You can find some of those on framecaplib.com

Main thing today is to take a deep breath, envision a world where politicians do not exist, guns expel fairy dust and bad language is replaced by words like whiz bang and boo boo.

Cheers!

Entertaining episode written by Alan Caillou. Napoleon trips over the office cat, Illya gets a first kiss (with a brainless heroine who at least takes the initiative in this), and there is Pat Harrington Jr, who is a comic turn in himself, with a lovely Italian accent. (He appeared in The Hula Doll Affair later).

This episode has some great scenes — Illya's dislike of mustard and ketchup;  Madame Grushenka (one of my favourite characters) seeing off Napoleon; Napoleon pretending to arrest Illya; Illya failing to search the furniture for diamonds; Illya with a blackeye and a headache landing a helicopter on top of a truck; and being told to dance with Madame Grushenka.

Once again it's the character actors who help to make it — in this case, J. Pat O' Malley whose character's curious friendship with Illya is so entertaining, and Lou Jacobi who plays a very human computer scientist.

The sentimentality and the turkeys are a bit much much, but this episode is redeemed from total absurdity by Akim Tamiroff as Chairman Koz, who even gets to kiss the boys. With a small role for J. Pat O' Malley, another great character actor.

Here we are again, and the weeks are flying by.  Colors are showing up in the trees and the temps are a little snippy here in the mid-south.

But here on Section VII we have a day devoted to drabbling (do consider the 100 word wonder), and photos from favorite episodes.  Once again I recommend Lisa's Framecap Library as an excellent resource.

Post a photo from a favorite episode and tell us what you like about it.  If you get inspired, maybe a Drabble based on the photo.

Have a good time with this, and a very good day.

Tense, exciting, evil, funny, but with so many terrific characters — Jack Pallance, Eduardo Cianelli (and fellow mafia), Leticia Roman, Janet Leigh...

Again, a very silly story but Jack Weston really made this episode as Buzz Conway

From Cap and Gowwn because he looks so adorably scruffy the entire episode :-)

Some of my favourite episodes are utterly silly, but bearable because they are redeemed by the acting ability not only of RV and DM, but of one or two wonderful character actors. Here's one:

Roger C. Carmel is a joy in this episode.

Writers are disappearing faster than a package of toilet paper.  Live Journal might be following that same trend because, on a platform that had several thousand communities, Section VII is now #15.  That can't be right, because we don't have the numbers that used to constitute a ranking like that.

We're still here though.  In spite of being thrashed by Covid-19, politics and a general malaise that has infected people far and wide, we're still breathing.

Today is Wednesday, and for about as long as Section VII has been a community, we've had drabbles on Wednesday.  I am not discontinuing that, if for no other reason that I consider it a personal bit of wit to have come up with the phrase A Little Drabble Do Ya, taken from the old Brylcream ads. That was A little dab'll do ya, for those who don't remember or, gasp, aren't old enough to remember.

I want to add something to our Drabble day, however; something that is, perhaps, more inclusive.

On Wednesday (in particular), I invite everyone to post favorite photos from favorite episodes.  There is a brilliant website called Lisa's Framecap Library that has photos that follow the story lines of each episode.  It features several series including The Man from U.N.C.L.E., and are intended for sharing.  Lisa also hosts the long running Man from U.N.C.L.E.
