Every once in a while I think it's a good idea to repost the profile for Section VII, just to remind folks of what this comm is all about.  Here it is:

The Man from U.N.C.L.E. is the iconic 60's television show that broke the mold on dramas and spy stories.  The continuing fascination with the show stems from the cool gadgets, fast cars and handsome stars of this innovative classic.  Section VII refers to the department within the organization that dealt with Public Relations and Propaganda, a fitting place to find fan fiction and photos that present our heroes in new dramatic missions and engaging photos of their best moments.

The site is dedicated to our love of all things UNCLE, and strives to maintain itself based around canon and concepts that are easily associated with canon.  If it was on the show then it works on Section VII; in other words, appropriate for all and easily connected to the original series.

In other words, and in addition to what is written, Section VII is a gen site.  The show was gen (if we're using those categories) and so is Section VII.  If you ever have a question about something you're writing, please PM me, or mrua7 or carabele We will try and answer question, calm your fears and get you on the road to posting your work.

I very much appreciate everyone who has contributed to this comm, both writers and readers.  We've done phenomenally well at a time when MFU participation has slacked off somewhat.  Thank you to one and all, whether we see you or not.

I think we're in the 'almost het' category, much as the show was. Napoleon in a serious lip lock with one of his women left little to the imagination. I set up the Map Room as a place for serious het fiction, although we haven't had much going on there. Still, it's a place for what is not suitable here.

One of the things I enjoy about this fandom is that there is room for gen, het and slash without any one variety being regarded as inferior.

I am mostly a gen reader. I read het and slash if the characters are all enjoying themselves. My objection is to explicit violence, especially violence just for the sake of writing it, not because the plot calls for it.

Fortunately there is much less for me to avoid in MfU than there was when I was reading B7.

I like that each genre has its own featured venue, which makes it nice for the reader. Some people have objected to this being a gen site, citing its lack of 'inclusiveness' to slash in particular. Well, there's muncle for slash readers, and both network command and mfuwss both accept all genres. There really wasn't any specific place for gen fiction, where a reader, especially, could confidently open the page and know what was contained in it.
I'm glad that so many have supported my decision to host gen fiction here on Section VII. For me it's all that's necessary to know it was the right move.
