It's been awhile, and I thank all of you for indulging my absence while I tended to family matters.  As some of you know, my darling cousin Luther was battling illness, and has sadly passed after a short but dramatic encounter with pancreatic cancer.

On Tuesday we celebrated his life, and in spite of the Covid-19 restrictions and sadly, fears, we had wonderful people come out to send him off with love and gratitude for a life well lived.  Thank you to all who sent sweet messages of comfort and encouragement.

To everyone who began, and those who contributed to the GoFundMe which was set up for me to take a trip to my beloved Cardiff...

Daffodils.jpg

It was the 29th May 2018 when I was surprised by this beautiful, generous, and kind gift. I ended up postponing the trip to coincide with a trip to London to see the concert version of Les Misérables (which my sister treated me to), but I finally got to Cardiff on Wednesday (6th November 2019).

I arrived home yesterday tired, a little sad at having left Cardiff behind, but incredibly happy. Not only that, but I also feeling exceptionally grateful to everyone who helped this to happen for me. I will never be able to convey just how important that city is to me (mainly because I have no explanation as to why it means so much to my heart), and neither will I be able to thank you all enough.

A short trip to Cardiff may not seem all that significant to a lot of people, especially in the grand scheme of things, but to me it means the world. You all showed my cynical soul that there are people in the world who are willing to gift happiness to someone without expectation of anything in return. I wish I could hug each and every one of you. Just know, I carried you all to Cardiff with me.

Thank you, thank you, thank you (ad infinitum).

There are ten pictures under the cut. (Those on my friends feed will have seen some of them.)

Thanks everyone again for the prayers, thoughts and good vibes. They must have worked as the surgery went well, though there was a lot of post-op pain which delayed my being able to go home by three hours. Once the pain was under control, I was discharged.

Funny after 17 hours+ of not eating, I'm not really hungry.  Last stay in the hospital affected my appetite, have a feeling today is doing the same thing as well.  I wouldn't mind losing a few more pounds, even though I know it's the hard way.

My poor friend who was driving me home stayed in the waiting room all that time rather than going home and coming back.

The surgery was actually pushed up as the surgeon was running ahead of schedule so I was in at 11:15 instead of 12:30.

Good to be home now in my jammies with the kittles curling up around me. (they knew something was going on when I got up so early this morning!) I left them extra food just in case I had to stay overnight...

Once I watch "Vikings" tonight and take some more meds, I'm heading to bed.

Thanks again everyone!

I"m home...

Thank you everyone for your kind comments, thoughts, vibes and prayers! They're very much appreciated!

I came home last night, exhausted. After seeing to the kitties (who were very happy to see me) I fell asleep on the sofa and woke up at 11 am this morning.

Basically what happened was that I had a sudden onset of severe pain in my left abdomen late Wednesday.  Figured I'd go to the doctor in the morning.  Pain only got worse and by 3 am I decided to go to the ER.

I quickly packed a little bag ( just in case), fed the cats, set up an extra litter box and then drove myself to the hospital (it's nearby)

Was diagnosed with a UTI and single kidney stone late afternoon and once in the ER they discovered that I had a massive kidney infection that was life threatening.  So they had to take care of the infections first.  The infections were caused by a single 8mm kidney stone blocking the urethra, a stint was put in to prevent the blockage.

Was told if I'd waited much longer, then I would have been in big trouble.

So now I have to have a second procedure to remove the stint and the kidney stone within the next two weeks. Oh joy.

Taking it easy right now, ordered not to do any lifting. I have to drink 2 liters of water per day.  Am on a potent antibiotcs, along with my regular meds.

Again, thank you ALL!

I'd like to offer thanks and appreciation to all the writers
(and readers) who participated in:

"T'was the UNCLE Round Robin."
click on the title to take you to the story

The quality of writing, and story telling was outstanding.
Everyone did a wonderful job to help create
a really good Man from UNCLE adventure.

The mood, the imagery, historical references,
Scottish mythology as well as the intrigue and angst
all made this a tale to be remembered.

As in the past the entire round robin story will be
cross-posted on AO3 and Fanfiction.net

Each writer will be given credit for their chapters
in the chapter headings.

The writers were:
ssclassof56, alynwa, avirra,katb357,jantojones,
pfrye,sidhe_uaine42, lindafishes8, insane_ladybug, mrua7
and Glennagirl who started it all with a wonderful prompt!

I didn't realize so many writers would respond to the idea of posting our first stories.  I did it simply because we have open posting right now on Thursdays, and going all the way back to the beginning sort of appealed to me.  All of you who have shared your first stories have made this a special day, and I thank you all for participating in this impromptu event.  Sometimes the unplanned things in life are the best.
Speaking of a First, look who was reading today...

It was a whopping success, so thanks to all who participated.  I guess we do still care about comments and making a good impression with our stories.  Quality is important, I hope we all continue to strive for that elusive perfection in spite of it being mostly impossible.  As in life, the pursuit of excellence is a noble endeavor, I think.  Perhaps that's one of the things that draws us to MFU, the hope and anticipation that these guys will succeed where others fail, make better that which is in danger of being destroyed.
You can review the poll HERE
Happy writing and reading to everyone.

Thanks for the lovely happy birthday wishes, cards and Hypnotoad!  I feel so fortunate to have reached another birthday with my mind intact and most of my hair.  I had my mom, friends and family to celebrate with and that is everything.  Your good thoughts were the icing on my virtual cake.

Hugs and Kisses!
