Summary: Illya just tries to eat his dinner.

“Ukhodi Boris!” Illya snapped at the cat as she tried to make a dive at his food.  He’d brought home an eggplant sub for his supper, being alone for the evening.



“Mi-ow!”

“Ny-et!”

“Miooooow” She howled as he pushed her away. This went on for several minutes.

The telephone rang, distracting the Russian and giving the cat the opportunity to grab the food from the plate and dash off with it.

Illya cursed as he answered the phone.”What!”

“Aren’t we in a bad mood?” Napoleon said. “I was going to ask you to dinner, but I don’t know now...”

lunch is fine, not thievery, but last night was another story. My one cat, over the past few days has, filched the eggplant sub, manhattan clam chowder, oat meal, spam....basically anything she can dive at and run like the devil. Not bad for a nearly 17 yr old cat who has suddenly become a bottomless pit?

funny mine sneaks up like the covert agent that she is, completes here assigned mission of thievery. Then 'after' the fact, she hops up on the couch next to me ( which is new behavior for a formerly shy cat) and cuddles up, then purrs at me. Not quite sure what that message is saying. Hmmm.

You can teach a dog "No!". Cats will listen at you with a "Seriously?" face... and do whatever they intended...

Actually I have one cat who listens to "no." But I do have to repeat it a little more often than I would for a dog, but surprisingly, he listens. He gives me an "oh alright for now" look. Then later when he starts in again, I do get the 'Seriously" look, as if he's saying "I listened once already, wasn't that enough?" heheheee

Boris is actually a sneaky little girl, modeled after two of my cats. Bunnie the thieving little she-devil and (the late) Jinks who lived to be 23. The picture I posted is the spitting image of him.

I don't think Napoleon's going to get out of it that easily. With my opinion of eggplant, I consider Boris, and others, showing real cat contrariness.

Thanks, yes I scratch my head at what Bunnie eats and say to her, "Cat you're not supposed to like stuff like that?" The late Jinks had a penchant for Doritos nacho chips....the brand name. If I gave him a cheap brand chip, he'd spit it out. Cat snobbery. Gosh I miss that cat.

Only one of my cats is the sneak thief, the other (younger one) will sit by food and not move a muscle, especially if I've said the phrase, "don't you dare!" He listens, my little she-devil doesn't.

What's really odd is my Bunnie is 17, and never did things like this. She was always a timid cat and hid all time, but then when my alpha female died 2 years ago, Bunnie came out of the closet so to speak and is making up for lost time. She's like a different cat now that she's the alpha. Amazing...

I'm being reminded by a certain little fur-ball, not a few feet away, that my lunch could very well be snatched off the table any minute now...

Let's hope Napoleon did take Illya out to dinner since Illya had his supper taken from him by a kitty with as big an appetite as his. ;)

This story was based on what happened to me a few nights ago, my little vulture stole my half eggplant sub when my back was turned. So art imitating life here.

Yes one would hope Napoleon would come through, but I think Illya needed to adjust his attitude a bit for a free meal. ehehehhe

This is great and as a cat person, I have had a goodie or ten taken by a kitty a few times in my life. I think Illya will be having dinner with his partner whether Napoleon knows it or not.
