The meal was comfortable and they were talking about things they would like to do if they were able to get some time off.  They even dared to talk about the future and retirement. As Illya was talking Napoleon began to smile at him.

“What?” 

“Good thing you have your lab to fall back on when you retire from the field.”

“And why would that be?” Illya asked irritated.

Napoleon showed him the bill from the meal.  “Your part of the bill is almost double mine.”

“You are paying, right?”

Napoleon nodded.

“Chocolate cake then, to make it exactly double.”

A Little Drabble Do Ya: Hurricane

Illya and Napoleon stood looking out Mr. Waverly’s window at the pouring rain and heavy winds that was Hurricane Donna.  The weather was ferocious; even THRUSH seemed to have hunkered down for the storm.  The agents were sharing a room in HQ for the duration.

“This is something America has that the USSR does not envy.”

Napoleon nodded, “Fortunately, they don’t happen often.  HQ’s metal walls are wind and waterproof, so all our technology is safe as is the staff.”

“If you gentlemen are finished storm watching, some of us have actual work to do.”

“We were just leaving, Sir.”

“Illya, what’s the matter?  You’re trembling.”

“Nothing. Really.  Go back to sleep.”

Illya placed his hand over hers.  The comfort of their lovemaking hadn’t dispeled the ghostly nightmares.

“Perhaps you should see a therapist about these memories that cause you so much distress.  It’s nothing to be ashamed of, you know.”

The Russian knew that an eternity of sessions with a psychiatrist couldn’t change what his life had been, or take away the memory of death and loss.

“I’ll consider it, my love.  Now, let’s go to sleep or, better yet…”

He could pretend that she took away his pain.

I know this is contentious but in Ukraine there are definitely two 'l's in Illya. As opposed to the Russian one occupying second place.

Forgive me if this has been discussed to death but I'm new around here and I've always thought that two 'l's is correct.

Also, I'm confined to my apartment for two weeks and may become increasingly crazy.....
